Dora has hair coming down the side of her face like that, which at least one character described as sideburns. They said something like "maybe it's the sideburns", and Dora said "I'm bringing them back," exactly the way Marten said it in an earlier strip. Sorry I don't know the strip number...

I swear I remember this too.  So either you're right, or you have the superpower to make people remember comics that never actually happened.

I enjoy "Helb!"

Today's strip actually made me feel really satisfied. The idea customers are always just off panel will make looking at some strips a bit funnier.

Tomorrow's comic:

Dale: Marigold, can I ask a HUGE favor of you? Could I maybe stay at your place for a little while? The Coffee of Doom burned down and Dora threatened to find me at my home and kill me. Faye, on the other hand, was strangely understanding...

Did anybody else think "If he still has the google glasses, this should be no problem."  Look up the model number and there's a manual and/or a video guide online.  Google is the first response for anybody under 25 or so in OUR universe.
Plus, espresso machines blow boiling milk or something.  You don't want to learn that by experimentation.

Omigod, you're totally right. That is exactly the strip I was thinking of, and one of the other characters in that comic (Thomas, I think) had made the same remark about sideburns in an earlier strip -- that he was bringing them back. I can't believe I mixed up QC and Between Failures. Apologies for the confusion; my bad.

And thank you, K1dmor. for setting me straight.

Edit: Haha, found the first strip containing that line.

Oh, and my actual superpower is that random streetlights occasionally turn themselves off as I pass by...

Am I missing something? What's with the Helbing?

I just read that as hello when I first saw the comic, too. Once everybody started saying "Helb, Dale" here in the forum, I went back to the comic and looked at the blackboard again, and then I got it.

Yes!

Narrator: Oh, how long can trusty Cadet Stimpy hold out? How can he possibly resist the diabolical urge to push the button that could erase his very existence?! WILL his tortured mind give in to its UNCONTROLLABLE desires?! CAN he withstand the temptation to push the button that even NOW beckons him EVER closer?! WILL he succumb to the maddening urge to eradicate history?!? At the MERE PUSH of a SINGLE BUTTON! The beautiful, SHINY button! The jolly CANDY-LIKE button! WILL he hold out, folks?!? CAN he hold out?!?!?

Stimpy: [Trembles and quivers violently, sweating profusely] NO I CAAAN'T!!!!!!!

So if Faye accidentally does too well on a latte, she'll drink it herself and then make an extra subpar one while the customer is forced to wait. Makes sense.

Of course, this also means that Faye has to sample each latte before she hands it to the customer, just to be sure it's not too good.

I am getting the feeling Faye is going to be in contension with Dale because Dale is going to be manager near future considering their difference in work ethic. Additionally, I think they are building towards Dale standing up for himself, He has a history of not sitting back and just taking abuse, since Faye has been on a power trip.

Were this any other story, I'd say we should anticipate a few more days/weeks of unacceptable behavior followed by the relevatory experience then the redemption/rehabilitation of the character.

The online discussion will constantly veer toward demonization of one character or another, with no thought toward Jeph's admonition that no one in the comic is ever entirely right or entirely wrong, but that is simply noise from the balcony.

Of course, Jeph never does anything standard-issue, so I'll just watch. Popcorn, anyone? (I'm not sharing my Junior Mints).

This seems like pretty typical Faye to me, just indulging in her favorite pastime of dishing out sass.  The "listen, fucko" bit would've been harsh except that she immediately followed it up with the equivalent of a "haha, gotcha!"  She's just yanking his chain.

I love Dale as straight man.  His earnest-and-bewildered expressions are very comical, and at the same time it's obvious that he's not too bothered and we don't have to cringe for him.

Perhaps Raven will stand in for Sven. Of course, there's a question of power dynamics here into which the more, uh, sociopolitically oriented forumites might enthusiastically jump, namely: Is it more offensive/oppressive/what have you for a male to flirt with a female than vice versa?
