Game Dev Tycoon
« on: 02 Dec 2013, 03:17 »

I don't want to admit how much time I spent on this last night.

Also I sort of became the company that keeps on making Vampire: The Masquerade games. They love it though!

You and me both...

I might be that person that names my company/games inappropriate things and giggles over it... Nobody seems to mind for some reason. Heck, Pole Dancing Hero XXX Ultra was a hit....

Also when the hell did 1024x768 become the bastard child of screen resolutions? I'm running into more and more *indie* titles that aren't really coding for it, or using it as a 'low-end' half-supported resolution.

Is your computer from 1995?

Seriously, the ass-old monitors we have on campus does 1650x1080. I think Baldurs Gate 2 came with native support for 1024x768. So the answer to your question is: they're coding for reasonably recent computers.

The annoying part is when games assume you've got a screen resolution taller than 768. My laptop's monitor is 13something x 768, and games don't like that much.

This is the resolution that the local state university still uses for most of their gear, last I saw. Mostly I know that because that's where this came from.

I guess I'm starting to get all 'old fogey' on you young weirdos.

On a side note, is it me or is releasing a Virtual Pet/Simulation game on the Gameling just after it comes out pretty broken?

Isn't this the one that had a 'pirated' version seeded a while before it was released?

Probably? I heard they did a thing where most pirated versions' players had in-game game pirates cutting into more and more of their in-game sales, so...

Yeah, I remember reading an article about that. The 'pirated' version was rigged so that the player would always lose.

I finished the "campaign" (for lack of a better word) last night. I'm not really sure what to do now... not sure if playing in endless mode is really something I want to do, considering I pretty much cruised the last couple years of the game without issue. Any ideas or is it time to move on?

New game with personal goals? While most things stay similar, you do get a slightly different balance of topics (as well as the ability to import the discovered tips from your post-game reports from the previous game).  Maybe decide you're going to make a certain kind or theme of games, or develop for different systems. Whatever.

Or go play something else for a bit.

Realized I didn't check and see if I got all the achievements... that's certainly worth striving for.

And while part of me certainly wants to focus on certain genres and be THAT sort of company... Not sure how different that will feel. Guess it'll be worth trying later. I'm worried I'm going to want to try unlocking ALL the tips... which is just too much.
