We also met in person a couple months ago - he may have heard me say my name, I don't remember.

Ahh, I did not know that. I'd be very surprised if you didn't say your name at some point.

No I think I openly still had you labeled as "Neko" >.>; I have used/heard the name before in other contexts though.

I am used to going by a nickname, just because of how difficult my real name is, so it could go either way. Often I'm Neko or Kat. MUCH easier than Elesia.

Maybe I just read too many fantasy novels growing up, but it's not that much of a mouthful is it?

I've always been into fantasy novels and it's my name so I don't know that I'm the best to ask, but no, I don't think so. But more than half the people that have ever had to pronounce my name more than a couple times get it wrong every time. My 4th grade teacher just never got it right, for example. Same with my coworker - who I've been working with for over 5 years.

Or possibly sleigh them, if you're feeling the holiday festivities.

As long as sleighing them involves running them over with a sleigh, I'm all in.

Honestly, now that I've heard it, it's not hard at all. It's just not immediately apparent from seeing it spelled out.

I'm not sure why that is, though. It's pronounced exactly as it's spelled, I think. Ell-ee-see-uh

Because the s in "sia" is usually not pronounced like an s.

Most words I can think of have a zh like Asia or a z like enthusiasm.

You're right - I hadn't thought of those. But most people don't pronounce it with a Z sound. Usually it's an Sh sound, which I can't figure out.

Actually, I say -sh- in Asia rather than -zh-, so it doesn't surprise me.

Wee, I would have gotten both right! But I pronounce "Neko" wrong. Like "Nee-ko". The right way to say it feels like it should be spelled "Necco", like the candy :-P

Well that's where my name comes from of course... necco wafers. Only neko is Japanese for cat. So, I am cat wafer. Delicious cat wafer.

See, I knew how to say Neko. Gaz never told me if I said it right.

He said that his computer was having issues playing soundcloud stuff. So I'm guessing he still hasn't heard any but the first one posted.

It appears I failed at uploading mine or something. But yeah, rhymes with jazz but with a hard g.
Did he (or she, but I seem to recall Gaz uses male pronouns) ever clarify on the correct pronunciation?
My first guess for Elesia was right, but looking at the spelling I thought it might be a Latin name, Eh-lay-see-a.
And my brain automatically often glosses over -sia and -tia so for example I pronounce the Khajiit protagonist in Prequel, Katia, as "Catty a" in my head but I read it out loud like "Kay shuh." Which I guess might be just slurring words or an accent or something.
