You play as Ripley's Daughter!

But...she died without knowing about the aliens... :psyduck:

Not saying it'll be bad, but that not canon! /fangirl rant

She died of old age while Ripley was in cryo, yes ... but that's all we know, right?

Even if she did, I wouldn't put it past the company to not tell Ripley everything.

I saw the developers talking about this... I don't know. It could be good. But I'm thinking it probably won't be. The thing that strikes me is they are trying to in some ways do the same thing that cause part of the problem with Aliens Colonial Marines (minus the crappy game and outright lying about it's contents in pre-release videos...) ACM tried to re-make Aliens as a beat-for-beat copy of the original game with new characters. The storyline is almost identical... Marines go in to investigate LV-427 after they lose contact with Gorman's squad. They encounter and fight a running battle against the aliens. How exactly when the complex god nuked I don't know but... Who gives a damn about logic!

Alien: Isolation is basically trying to do a remake of Alien, with a different character and on a space station instead of a space ship... With such a wide open potential of stories, why try to re-do what's already been done before? I like that they're going for space horror instead of space combat... But really, if I just want to see Alien over again I'll pop in the DVD... Give me something new if you want my interest.

I'm willing to give it a chance, because I like the source material and I like the genre.  But I'm watching like a hawk for anything suspicious.

Seems like 2 types of people out there.  Those that like or are largely unimpressed with horror games/movies that can handle this type of game like it was a boring paddle ball.  Then there are those (like me) who rarely play horror games or watch horror movies where the silence and the caution in trying not to get caught gets to you and provides the scare.
