The only thing that was OK in that commercial was Gina Carano.

...But comparing her to Bruce Lee?  Really?

Create a Super Hero Character

There's a few decent ones there, but there's also a couple of really shitty cheesecake pics with boring one-line blurbs that still get votes.  Blue Star, for example.

Will.i.am is a moron. Words utterly fail me.

Oh fuck oh shit oh fuck maybe my generation really is ruining everything  :psyduck:

Oh wait no it's just a stupid commercial selling brain-rotting bullshit

Am I missing something offensive in this commercial? I've watched it like four times in a row, and I really can't figure it out.

It's just kinda stupid in that they're taking a whole lot of awesome shit from a few decades ago and positing a bunch of pretty lame stuff from recent times as it's modern-day equivalent, chief among which is suggesting that Will I Am is my generation's Bob Dylan

The only thing that was OK in that commercial was Gina Carano.

That amused me because showing her moves right after Bruce Lee doing his thing made her look kinda slow. I guess that's something she has in common with just about everyone else on the planet, but it's still sorta funny given the context.

Well, she weighs a good bit more than him. And it looks like she's in off-season shape, so she's probably got 10-15% more body fat. Bruce Lee was seriously obsessive about keeping his body fat low. Possibly unhealthily low.

I seem to remember that Wesley Snipes was so fast while filming Demolition man that they had to slow him down for the camera to catch it well, but he's not really known as a fighter like Lee was.

Yeah, I find the stuff about Bruce Lee's conditioning and work out obsessions more interesting than a lot of the claims about his prowess, since a lot of stuff about him doesn't really pass the sniff test. And yeah, there's a lot of things about film that make it tough to trust your eyes, and it's not always just about trying to play someone's hand speed up, either. For example, I've read before that in some Hong Kong films they'd have guys move a bit slower but film at a lower frame rate to more or less compensate. It wasn't so much that the actors couldn't move fast, but rather that it was just a helluva lot easier to choreograph that shit if everybody wasn't running around flailing like maniacs.
