Does anyone know what stores tend to carry a good selection of levis? There is a dedicated levi store within driving distance, but I would rather not go there if I have to, because it is about a half hour away by highway, and I don't want to blow that much gas if I'm not sure I'm going to actually be getting something. I tried on every kind at one store that wasn't low-rise or bootcut, and there wasn't anything that fit (tried 501s, 514s, and 550s, I know 505s don't fit because I have some).

Or some people that wear carhartts are doing things that wear out most brands of clothes really quickly. No, that does not include screwing your cousins, it is customary to take clothes off for that.

Honestly dude I like that Carhartt jacket. It's not particularly over the top and you could easily get away with rocking it all winter.

I also love peacoats but I get the feeling you'd look like a douchebag in one.

I dunno, I think pretty much all men look good in your standard double-breasted pea coat. Unless of course they always look like a douche. Like guidos. Fortunately Pat is not a douche, dude bro, etc, so I think he could pull it off nicely. Also it's one of those coats that can be dressed up or down quite easily.

Except fat guys. Double-breasted anything on any fat people just makes them look bigger.

I already have an old Carhartt kinda like that one so ya'll can blow me.

Of course, when I was a kid I had to wear snow boots and gloves with my Halloween costume a few years in a row 'cuz we kept getting ice storms and power outages by mid October. I kinda doubt that sort of climate excuse flies in San Francisco though.

Frankly I like how fat guys look in double-breasted peacoats more than how really thin guys look in them. Unless you get something that is more like a short trench with a belt at the waist you're gonna drown in the width of the coat.

Re: bags

I used messenger bags for a couple of years (and still would if I ever picked my nice one up from the friend's house I left it in) but I bought a backpack again recently because although it feels a bit more juvenile and a lot less cool, it's a hell of a lot better for my back if I have heavy stuff to carry and it's much comfier on a bike because it stays out of the way.

Are they? I mean, I saw one recently that was for their KAWAIIII!!!!!!! derby that was essentially pictures of the giant plush microbes, but I guess there's no way to prove the designer wasn't sincere when she said she didn't know they existed.

There are a lot right now that I think are relatively original. I just bought two: this one and this one!

That is a horrible shirt.

That is a superb shirt. Honestly I cannot think of a single reason

Internets, I am going to be 27 next week. I wear Carhartts and t-shirts almost every day and I rarely shave. What can I do to change it up a little?

Get married.

From the few pictures I've seen, I reckon the manly, gruff look works well for you.

Operating under this assumption, getting laid isn't a motivating factor, so unless you feel like reinventing yourself (under the circumstances that seems like a no) then you have two options: get married or move to a large coastal city (LA, NYC).

Settling down will provide subtle pressure to look more mature in public. Living in a place like New York or Los Angeles, you'll notice that there's a greater emphasis placed on everyday dress and that sleeker guys receive more attention.

Ah ok, it's by the same dude.  So he's basically re-doing the same joke on woot with a different country + animal because if he did it on Threadless people would notice.  I am less outraged now I know it's the same dude doing both, but it's still a pretty ugly shirt.

The black one, with the ribbon on it? I'm asking because my Human Sexuality teacher has one like that, although she is very insistent that it is HIV, not AIDS. She is particular about her students remembering that HIV is the virus, AIDS is... not quite a symptom, but something along those lines.

I like the Australia one better because the America one looks like it was just a shark squished to fit America's shape, rather than something that actually looks like the country.

I like the shark one better because:

a) I saw it first, so the gorilla one seems like a cheap copy;
b) the "gorilla wearing a fez" thing seems like it is stretching to find something to make the country look like;
c) the font on the shark one doesn't make me cringe;
d) like lunchy said, the colours are pretty awful;
e) looking at the image in passing and seeing "AMERICA SHARK" is cooler than "AUSTRALIA GORILLA"

but I mean, if you want to like it that is fine; you live on the other side of the earth, I'm not going to see it any time soon.

Buy a couple of decent button-down shirts in solid colours, a cardigan, a casual blazer, some decently-fitted t-shirts without logos/text on them. Buy some khakis, slacks, nice jeans. Mix and match, you're done.

I'm actually trying to wear less band shirts and if I could find good, plain t-shirts I would wear the shit out of those every day but frankly the only good quality blank t-shirts I have found are the Bonds ones which fit tighter (and shorter) than I would like. I'm also trying to get more comic book related tshirts but it turns out they are expensive and I'm really poor.

Also opshops and thrift stores never have anything that interests me, just really horrible old clothes that no one wears anymore for good reason.

uhm I know we have been over this but American Apparel makes well fitted blank shirts, even if you don't like them for policies or whatever, but I guess those are pretty expensive as well. But there's a bunch of mass retail online things that you can buy American Apparel clothes in bulk and cheaper. Dunno about in Australia though.

And I'm not disagreeing with band shirts or threadless or anything like that. I'm talking more about this stuff. Just... fundamentally.
