It's way cheaper to buy, say, a Topatoco AA tshirt and get it shipped from the US than to buy a plain shirt from AA here.

Yeah, this is one of the reasons I have a lot of Threadless t-shirts. Way cheaper to get AA shirts from them than to actually buy them from the EU AA store, at least when they are on sale, which they are pretty frequently. I'd like to have some without prints on them, but considering the VAT and customs limit on imported stuff here, it wouldn't be worth it.

I finished a new sweater today. It is not very fashionable, but I don't care, I like it and will probably wear it this winter. I'm also really in need of a nice winter coat, though, and it is so damn difficult to find good-fitting ones. I'm only 161cm (between 5'3" and 5'4"), so they are often either too long or too bulky (which looks horrible when I am a fatty). Things also tend to have collars that are way too wide to look good. I kinda want something in grey wool, perhaps a peacoat? But what looks good on stubby girls? I'm guessing it shouldn't go too far down on my butt, because it is large and that will look horrible. I got a jacket that looks like this in brown recently, so I'll be good for a while, but not once it drops below zero, and I guess I should start looking early anyways.

I might have to nab some tees as well, if that is true. I was just assuming it was wishful thinking.

Then again, hanes bulk-pack t-shirts fit me just fine.

And I'm not disagreeing with band shirts or threadless or anything like that. I'm talking more about this stuff. Just... fundamentally.

Come now, I think an "I Support Single Mothers" stripper pole T-shirt is something every eligible bachelor should have in his closet. They say classics never go out of style.

Do I buy the completely white converse that are my size in the display window in the shop beneath my flat for 15 pounds?

I guess my question is: white shoes, are they a Done Thing?

White shoes are ok, but they are a bitch to keep clean. If you buy them, Scotch Guard them.

I dunno, I don't wear white shoes. My chucks are grey, my vans are black, my boots are brown (I plan on getting a black pair soon, too), and all my other shoes are either a neutral (black/brown) or some crazy color. I personally can't stand wearing white shoes because they make me OCD about keeping them clean. My other shoes I could care less about getting dirty (minus the dress shoes).

Speaking of keeping them clean, how do you keep the white rubber part of chucks clean? I prefer that look on them, but they get dirty quick, especially walking through dirt.

Scrub the rubber with a sponge and some abrasive cleaner. I don't know what sort you guys have, but Jif or Gumption here is good. You want one that has a bit of grit to it.

I have some cream coloured chucks and they still look okay even though they are a little bit dirty.

I need to get some new chuck-type shoes. My current ones are dead, I have to admit it to myself even though I won't let my mum throw them out (she has been after them since I arrived to visit last week). The back of the right one has completely separated from the sole, there is a hole in the bottom, there are holes at the sides where the toes attach to the fabric, basically they are almost entirely hole. But they are the best shoes ever! They are olive with a picture of the pink panther playing the saxophone on the outer ankle and I love them.

Yeah. I was regretting not just wearing my hiking boots at the end of a short uphill hike this summer.

They make P.F. Flyers again now, I seem to remember those having arch support. They also make you run faster and jump higher.

I have low arches, so Chucks are just as comfortable as Vans. The only shoes I've ever been blown away by on comfort are made by Born and Jambu, but they are expensive and I am ok without.

I still want to get some. I was raised on The Sandlot, and wanted a pair so bad, but the old maker had gone out of business, and the new maker hadn't bought the rights yet. By the time they started making them again, I stopped caring. Only found out they were making them again a couple of months ago.

Fashion thread, I need honest opinions.  So bought this fabric a while ago to make myself a skirt.  But now I am not sure I can wear a skirt made of said fabric.  I keep my hair pink, as such I don't wear red, because it looks bad with my hair.  This fabric kind of has a lot of red in it.  Can I pull it off anyways or should I make something for someone else with it? My hair:

if it was a shirt you were making, i'd suggest something else, but you'll have some fabric between the peenk and the skirt. also i agree with gene; that's some really pretty fabric. i've been meaning to make a bunch of circle skirts lately (in WOOL or something for WINTER YEAH)

You can totally make a skirt out of that, but uh, if you can't, I'll totally take it. >.>

Seriously though, that is some beautiful fabric and I don't think it'll really clash with your hair at all. You could easily wear it with any other color but red or orange and it'll look really nice.

So my mom offered to buy me new boots for the winter, which is pretty generous considering my Docs are perfectly fine.

Do I get the brown leather Iron Rangers or the desert suede ones?

I'd normally go for the brown leather but my Docs are a similar style and similar color, and I think it's overkill to have two pairs of brown boots.

How hard is it to keep that kind of suede clean in the winter?

Conversely, engineer boots y/n?

Those boots are pretty tight but I like the steampunk aesthetic that the Fiorentini + Baker engineer boots I linked give off, weird tongue included.

I copped some faded grey Rugby vintage slim jeans yesterday. I forgot how much I missed button flies.
