I have two pairs of trousers. They are exactly the same. I have been wearing the pair I'm currently wearing every day since the beginning of September. I think when October swings around I'll change to the other pair.

The idea that I have the option of buying another pair of trousers has just blown my mind.

I have two pairs of jeans that are exactly the same size and cut, except one pair is a fairly light blue and the other is darker. This is all I wear out, unless I am working in which case I wear black trousers.

Shit I actually had to go count to be able to answer this. The answer is ten, and I use them all on a regular basis.

(To be fair, I only have three pairs of good quality jeans, the other are mostly a line of pants/jeans that I really love and fit me very well, but are cheap as hell and not of the best quality)

I think I have 7 or 8 pairs of jeans in different cuts and washes (not including my array of cords) but I have one skinny raw indigo pair I wear pretty much every single day. Today the zipper broke and I am distraught, but they were only kinda cheap jeans so it'd probably be better going and buying a new pair.

Aw heck yeah fall dress. Shopping consignment is the best, this dress is by kimichi and blue and I got it for freaking ten bucks! It is a little on the short side, so I'm on the lookout for cute patterned tights and some nice tall boots for when it gets a bit chillier out.

The woman in the photos for that very item is Sasha Grey, a pretty big-time porn star who was also in Steven Soderbergh's film The Girlfriend Experience.

I have four pairs of jeans that I wear on a regular basis, plus Dickies, plus dress pants that I really only wear to work or if I am wearing a suit.

Hey guys (Sam), what is the best way to shrink jeans, will it work if they are second-hand, and what (besides length) shrinks most?

I found a pair of Seven Jeans that fit mostly great except in the waist, and I wouldn't care if the thigh shrank a little, too. They were $4. I am going to take them up but I was just wondering if I can sit in the bathtub because sewing on jeans is annoying and hard.

I always wear belts. The thing that gets annoying is when the jeans fit everywhere, including through the waist, but still gap a lot in the back. Even with a belt I can still bend over and get a nice ass crack flash if I am not careful. It is the curse of being a woman.

Suspenders are good fun and all, but they do not help to decrease the size of pants that are too large. Also I don't think they'd solve the problem of having too much space in the back.

Sincerely,

Plus suspenders (braces, not garters) look kind of dumb on ladies' bodies unless the lady is Patti Smith. Like with me they have to curve around my boobs or they squish em, but on the cover of Horses, they look amazing and she doesn't exactly have little boobs. Hmm.

At that point, I don't think she wore a bra. Also, they are pulled close to her belly button, so they may go between her boobs instead of over them. I guess if you wore suspenders closer to your shoulders, too, they wouldn't look weird?

If I'm going to a ball, would this dress be suitable? I feel that black isn't really a great colour for fancy balls and maybe it isn't fancy enough? Also I've worn it a lot lately.

I'll probably wear it with straps.

honestly, no, I don't think that's nice enough. it's cute but prints for the most part are not fancy. black is definitely fine though (do you have a "little black dress"? if not you totally should start looking, they are actually really useful to have).

I didn't think it was really fancy enough, but the ball is in like two weeks and I don't have time to shop for a gown. I think I'll maybe just not go, there will be other ones and to get in I have to join the society and that's like £115.

Ladies, are gowns useful in general?  I know I received a suit as a graduation gift from high school, because suits are useful (especially if you're making a living playing jazz).  I keep hearing people say that they buy gowns for one-off events, but the only people I know who buy gowns are rich, so that's a poor correlation.  Basically, how useful are gowns is my question.

I think it's not that gowns aren't useful (so far as fancy clothing is "useful") but that the same suit is good for different events than the same dress is good for. If that didn't make sense, I mean that there are more levels of formality for girls than for guys, so a dude can get away with only having one suit. But for all the occasions he wears that suit, his lady friend might find that she needs a sun dress, a little black dress, an informal but winter-appropriate dress, a true gown, and business wear.
Personally, I have a sun dress, two formal and one informal black dresses, but I only wear one of them, and in some closet at my parents' are an old prom gown and my wedding dress.

So, Fashion Advice thread, I rarely read you, but a few pages back, someone made the comment about how top hats, and bowler caps, and petticoats should come back into fashion. I am not really sure where you live, but those things are somewhat fashionable around here. My boyfriend and I both have a number of bowler caps, and I am fairly certain that a good deal of friends and acquaintances wear them at least occasionally.

Though maybe that has to do with the group you hang out with. I doubt anyone at work would wear anything of those things.

Anyway, onward to actual needing of advice. So, I work in a warehouse. And I like wearing dresses. And have recently given in to my urge of wanting to buy more dresses, so instead of having zero, I currently have 5 plus one skirt. I want to wear my dresses all the time! I figure that for the most part, I can wear these dresses with leggings and flats, and this makes them totally ok to wear while doing warehouse work. Right?? I am fairly certain that some I cannot wear to work because I'd have to wear heels, and they'd look silly, like this dress.

These are the dresses I have that I think I could wear. Do you think they'd be ok with leggings and flats?
I bought this one in grey and black
I think this one looks waaay better on me than it does on this model. I tried this one on with another dress, and actually wanted the other dress moreso before trying this one on, but after seeing it on me, I thought it was really cute. My boyfriend agreed. So the dress is not as ugly as the model makes it look.

Also, what are your feelings on adult women wearing plaid skirts? I bought one, and I think it looks cute, but I also feel like a teenager in it.

i don't know the general consensus on plaid skirts, but i have a few.  most are for bedroom usage only since i'm not so much of a tramp to walk around with a miniskirt, but i have one that looks really great with one of my sweaters and isn't slutty short.  i like how i feel in it.  yes, i feel young, but i'm starting to appreciate that youthful feel.
