I'm also still looking for a decent jacket.  Basically I wish Ben Sherman still made the exact jacket I currently have so that I could get another one a size larger.  I also wish leather jackets could be tailored, but it seems that they probably can't.  I'll probably wind up scouring the local stores tomorrow and thursday night, because it's getting cold here and I am sick to death of wearing either one of my hoodies or a nice jacket that is slightly too small for me.

I have a canvas coat and I love it, they really are great for the spring, also the model is not wearing it a size too large. It's just not tailored at the waist, if he went a size smaller it'd be virtually skin tight on his arms

Hey fashion thread- good, bad, or boring?

I swear I'm not clinically incapable of wearing anything beyond neutrals like my posts here might imply.

Are the pants dark blue? it looks that way.
It is a very "blend into the crowd" sort of outfit. Which, I don't think suits you in a personality sense, but would still look good on you in a fashion sense.

Coats are hard to find, it drives me mad. I like them long enough so I can hide my hands in them, but to do that, they end up being far too big. My Ben Sherman trench is the only coat I can basically wear with everything and it's just... perfect. I think this will be the third winter I've had it now and I am dreading the day when it just falls to pieces.

Hey fashion thread- good, bad, or boring?

Okay, but boring.  Try accessorizing with a scarf or a necklace that is longer and more colorful.  Also, what shoes are you wearing?  Cute shoes with a pop of color might change things.

Actually the only thing you need to change about that picture is the top being the same color as your jeans. Accessories would be fine, a bag, whatever, but the fact that you are basically Blue in Green is going to bring the outfit down. If changing the top makes the cardigan work less, change that too.

Ok, I thought it was probably boring but the colors just looked so nice in real life.

On a semi-related note, QC I HAVE FOUND AN OLD MAN HAT.

It is straw and fits on my big goddamn head and there is no way ever that I am not wearing this Saturday to celebrate my legal-to-drink-in-public day.

also, I am not so sure about this red shirt, but i think i like it. and here's a fun jacket I got recently.

First and second look are good, but you could definitely use some different shoes. Those sandals aren't doing you any favors, especially with the second 'fit.

The third look reminds me of some serious jewish fratboy steez, and I vote strongly against it. Maybe with a different tie.

The tie is alright, it's everything else about that third outfit that is atrocious. The jacket and jeans don't work together at all.

I agree, the rest looks pretty good excepting the flip flops + jeans combo.

I don't get all the flip flop hate, but then again, I never have. They don't bother me!

The rolled up jeans look really awkward.

This. Maybe it's because the roll itself is really wide? I dunno. Maybe cutting them would look better, maybe not, but try rolling it differently first. I like the other looks though!

Flip flops are fine footwear! With shorts, or at the beach.

Andy, we've established that breaking every known law of fashion works fantastically well for you, but I think that is limited to your style and your body.

yea, I kept on playing with the jeans to try and figure it out. I dunno, they always seemed too long, too short, or the roll would be too fat or too big or something. I will get it right eventually. Maybe I can use CALCULUS to solve my jeans dilemma. Related rates, maybe? (guys I am so much more confident at maths now that I don't have to think about my grades.)

but I am totally not cutting them ever, then I wouldn't be able to wear them as pants!

also I have a noticeable lack of shoes other than those black bowling-shoe-esque ones and those brown flip flops.I need to fix this at some point.

I don't get the flip flop hate either.  But I can tell you that you have rather skinny calves and it does wierd things with the jeans rolled up.

Ok well I realise that no one likes my taste in clothes, really, but I have to share.

This dress came in the mail today. I bought it on ebay (I skipped out on the yellow ones because they were all blah and I decided they weren't worth it). It is super cute and bright red with teeny tiny white polka dots. The fabric is actually a lot better than I bargained for: a ribbon-weave satin crepe, and even though it picks really easily on rough calluses and jagged fingernails, that is easy enough to prevent, and I am super impressed with it. The collar is supposed to fold down, too, by the way, in a peter-pan style, but I kind of like it up too. Pretty much almost new, and I got it for like $11. The only bad thing about it is that it smells like someone's grandmother, you know, like hand cream and mothballs or whatever.

My boyfriend got a new camera recently, and since he wants to play around with it I might talk him into photographing me in it.

(it looks better on me than their model, I promise)

Katie, I would wear that dress. Also, it probably smells like someone's grandma, because it belonged to someone's grandma. Mine had all these wonderful dresses from when she was younger, one of which I have now. It's awesome. A run through the wash and it shouldn't smell anymore.

EDIT: noticed you said it was pretty much new. In which case - I have no idea.

Ok guys, I got two new dresses recently. Here is one:

I am going to buy some tights to wear under it, seeing as my legs are pasty white and I will be wearing this at night and it will be cold out.

Good? Bad? Put it in the cupboard and never wear it again?

Katie, that is a pretty good dress! I would be really awkward trying to wear it to normal everyday things, but I get the feeling you are vibrant enough to compete with the dress;)

Good dresses here on all counts!

Also, eugene. I like sandals with nearly everything, this isn't about what looks good on me, this is the fact that I think it's attractive. it makes outfits seem more laid back. Sandals are the superior foot wear 90% of the time.

Also, I really like feet so my opinion on this is going to be different than a lot of people's because it seems most people have a vendetta against feet :c

EDIT

ALSO we have established that I, in fact, look terrible in lots of clothes.

Tie knot is definitely too thin. Should go with a half of double winsor. Since you're wearing a vest, tie length doesn't matter as much, so you have some free reign to try different knots without worrying that your tie will be too short.
