Brittany! I am terrified of horses! I also have only worn a dress twice in the past three years in public. I actually wear dresses more often to show the internet in real life.

(No really, unless I'm in the city I wear beaters and skinnies every day)

Maybe then I had thought of you as Andy! The One Hope! and projected all of everything I think is awesome on to you? (Actually I think I musta been thinking of RunsWithScissors about the horses thing and WHATEVER you are wearing a skirt in that picture and it is HELL OF CUTE [so there])

(also I am scared of horses too because they are big and I have known too many people who have been stomped by them)

Ok so I saw a jacket in an op-shop today. It was basically this but in a really nice grey. I'm thinking maybe I should get it. Thoughts?

The odd thing is that at one point I owned a jacket exactly like the one I saw but it was both way too small for me, had too much of the distressed look for me to like it too much (huge white scratches all over the chest and back) and didn't really fit in with the rest of my wardrobe. I ended up selling it to a friend of mine who is much smaller than I.

Get the jacket!

I have a feeling ladies in Texas will disagree with this statement. Although it's probably ok for them since they live in Texas.

Oh Lunchy that is the cutest coat. I have been looking for new coats for next year -- where did you get that? Or if anyone else is pretty well-versed about coats/terrible-weather outfits, where should I start looking for stuff that will get me through next year's Chicago winter?

Speaking of coats I adore, here is a coat and a style that I totally adore on The Satorialist. Thoughts?

My boyfriend bought me this skirt.  Is it way too short to wear anywhere outside of the bedroom?  If not, what can I wear with it to be more on the cute / classy side of things, rather than the gross / trashy side?

tightssss. for serious. I don't know anything more specific than that (As a guy, I don't have much experience with wearing skirts), but if you want more cute/classy go with tights of some sort, that is what all the girls I know seem to do (black, maybe?) and maybe the ones that go like halfway down your shin?

that is not a very high quality picture though so I could be completely wrong.

Personally, I think it's too short, but if you're going to wear it out, wear opaque black tights with it.

I mean I do not want to be harsh on your boyfriend but that is a little bit stupid unless he is just charmingly disarmingly naive/innocent maybe? I mean, yes, I think it is possible someone could wear that and just look totally sincere and comfortable with it, but it is a really short school-girl skirt in case we all hadn't noticed yet. If you really want to wear it out, you could do the full-length tights/stockings thing, but I think that's a little lame personally. Maybe you could just try wearing your favorite, most comfortable, personal top and see how you look/think of yourself with it?
You need a top that projects 'yes this skirt is me I think it looks nice and I like it and I do not think it makes me look skanky'.

I know my boyfriend really likes it when I dress up in short tight things in public. I would not choose to wear those sort of things, but when I do it's kind of awesome for his reaction when he sees me in it, and the smug looks he makes when he notices someone else checkin' me out.

I dunno.  There are short sexy skirts and there are short slutty skirts.  I think that one would fall under slutty if worn without tights in public.

It really is too short for normal wear... I would even feel awkward in it at a club because then you're trying to dance and worrying that your frilly belt of a skirt is about to flip up and give a show.
I'm voting for keep it in the bedroom.

The only thing that's nice about cowboy boots is that the the toes aren't bulky like on many other types of boots so you can at least scale a chain link fence at a decent pace if it becomes necessary; a cowboy boot wearing friend of mine had no problem with it while I had to kick off one of my old steel toed work shoes entirely. Granted, it's probably a better idea just to avoid pissing off the locals in the first place.
