I need some beard advice thread
« on: 29 Jan 2010, 13:59 »

That is my beard. It is not a bad beard, but it is a lot of beard.

I am looking for the pros and cons of shaving this beard, currently. I was wondering if you guys could help me compile a list of good and bad things about this beard.

Good - Keeps my face warm in january, and my scarf collection is mediocre.

Bad - Hides my generally pretty face from the world.

Good - Kinda lets me do that wolverine thing

Bad - Kinda lets me do that wolverine thing.

I am making this decision by the first, please help.

I'd say just trim the sides so the whole thing is more uniform.

Otherwise...I dunno man, stay the course, I guess. Looks fine, to me.

Also I would like to point out that the combination of Sailor Moon and faux-Kerouac / Sonic Youth spelling is perhaps the purest distillation of what this forum is that we have yet been presented with.

I'm with SWM. It's not the best picture to be judging it by, but from what I've gathered from other threads you don't have issues with patchiness or anything, so I'd say just trim it down and reassess before doing anything drastic.

Grow the beard longer (for more warmth, also for more ladies to feel it up) but cut your hair really short.

I think in your case it's maybe not so much the beard as the hair that might be making you look a bit unkempt. At the moment I am really loving the extremely-short-hair-with-a-longer-bear look.

Also I think unless you're going to have a serious 19th-century-bushranger beard you're better not having it all standing on end like that. It's fun for a laugh but it makes you look like a wild man when really all you want is just to look like a man.

Kiff don't ever shave, ever.

You are the only person with a blonde beard who doesn't have the patchy shit-look. DO NOT WASTE IT oh god do you know what I'd give for that?

Kieffer the only cons I can think of involve, like, catching food in the moustache-bit if it gets longer? I wouldn't shave it.

Trim the beard and cut/brush your hair. You look like the unibomber in that photo.
