I think Dale first appeared in strip 1640, although he was already a steady CoD customer with benefits by then. Without the glowing glasses he looks quite normal, although a bit scruffy.

What do we really know about Dale?

• Favorite expression: Daaaaang!
• Extremely nerdy
• Likes to play WoW, as Alliance scum
• Former arch-enemy of Marigold, both in real life and in WoW. Several hostile encounters happened, until she finally killed him.
• In reality, Dale and Marigold were having a crush on each other. They were just too stupid to realize it while they were fighting.
• Dale works a bunch of jobs, to get a decent living for himself and his mom.
• Overall, Dale is a very likable person. Probably too cool and easy going for Faye, but otherwise he is liked by everyone.

Interesting, apparently in between 1640 and 1668 he took out his plugs and they shrunk to nothing
