Combi is the name of an Aussie make of van. It's what Men At Work are seen "falling out of" in the video for "Land Down Under."

An Aussie name for a German (Volkswagen) make of van. Well, minibus really, with windows all round.
And they've been around from the flower-power '60s onwards...

Considering conversations in the comic have been considerably shorter since the format change, I get the feeling Marten's going to be shuffled to the background for the upcoming scene, if he's present at all. He's basically fulfilled the plot requirement of waking Faye up so Faye and Angus can have srs bsns conversation about the immediate future, which means most likely they're going to have that talk now. Marten making a mess might happen, but probably just as an end of strip kicker type thing.

The song is only so-so, but the phrase "chartreuse microbus" has stuck with me all of these years.

Oh yeah, sounds like a contender.

But the P2 already knows about Angus's gig. That's not to say it being brought up the way it would be in this scenario, combined with Faye's I-was-sleeping-dammit grumpiness, might not be conducive to it being discussed in an atmosphere of sweet reason, but she's not in the dark about this.

You're right, but it seems more of a buried thing, not something discussed at length. Since all we see are selected dialog about what's going on in their lives, there may not have been much more said and both are kind of dreading what happens while not really talking about it. So there may be something festering in their minds that a chance outburst from Marten will break it open, or maybe Faye even forgot it was this soon, and it freaks her out some. Although Angus seems more than a little convinced he's got a very good chance at this... minor foreshadowing?

To add confusion, may I alert everyone to the random fact that "Kombi" is the German word for... no, not a van, but a station wagon ( because it... combines features of a sedan and a van, probably)

I'm hoping tomorrow's comic will be totally anticlimactic (and therefore hated) rather than Marten doing something really stupid. OWLS.

I dunno what kind of history, or how long they've had it, but yes, they do. They are friends on Twitter, at least, and Wil's avatar has been drawn by Jeph (I believe it's a cropout from a comic where Wil made a cameo appearance?)
