Oh no I've not been clear: please do not make a character. Not yet.
Ha, good thing I started making one but didn't finish it.

Yeah, sorry, I plan on doing some more work to it before I'm willing to call it playable.

The fact that you were confused at all is a poor sign, tired or not. I'll have to look at what could use some tightening up.

Just reread it. I don't remember what I read last night quite well enough to know if you made changes, but I understand much better now either way. I think I was just overloaded with references to unfamiliar terminology, but now I see that there's enough context to get by until actual gameplay fills in the gaps. Looking forward to it!  :-)

btw, PMed you about your character, in case you missed it. Figured it'd be easier to discuss that here.

Currently working on my own game. Question to G&W, since you're already leading one: Can I make up new cards for challenges or locations on the fly during the game or do I have to have everything planned out beforehand?

We'd be in big trouble as narrators if we couldn't do stuff on the fly. The only cards you need to start are some natures, strengths, weaknesses, and subplots, since the players sees those. And I might be wrong about that, since players can make their own, though it's nice to have some options/examples.

Alright, my game is ready to start, invitations have been sent to you guys. If anybody else wants in on a Zombie Survival Game, just send me a message.
Regarding your characters, feel free not to stick at all to the Cards I have provided, as long as you stick with realistic things. The game plays in modern days, so no Magic or other outwordly powers.

Nature: Zombie Necromancer - You're the cause of this!
Strength: Make a Zombie - You make a zombie!
Weakness: Make a Zimboe - You tried making a zombie and it came out wrong!
Subplot: Make ALL the Zombies! - You want to do this. A lot.

This would get approved, right?  :-D No? I guess I'll just have to work on mine later then....

Dammit, I finally thought I picked out a name for my character in your zobmie game, but everything related to it on google is porn.  I'll keep working on the description, but finding an avatar is going to take awhile.

I'd been picturing Etta as being around my age, so 28-ish?.  I know we don't actually have levels, but since it seems like we're basically Level 1 Catchers, I figured we'd all be relatively young.

Meant to post this earlier...

Masterpiece - If it helps, Deborah is early to mid 30s, Feng looks early 40s, but people of his race age differently, and Simon is early 40s. For whatever reason I can't seem to put exact ages on my characters (this includes my player characters).

Method - If/when you do join back up, just yell at me and I'll write you back ASAP. No pressure though. Feel free to let me know if you have specific concerns. I also won't hold it against you if you decide this may not have been your thing after all and don't want to come back. Only reason I mention that is because I've known people that would continue sporadically playing games like this until it became obvious they weren't having fun and I had to tell them there'd be no hard feelings. XD

The same goes true for anyone else in Catchers that feels burnt out mid-game.

I missed that people were posting here, so I didn't respond right away. I'm a little ambivalent on what to do. I'd hoped everyone would weigh in on whether they were still in or not so I could adjust as needed.  :-\

We'll work something out, regardless... I've no plans to abandon this as long as others want to keep going and can carve out the time here and there.

Henri -  welcome back! Hope the craziness wasn't the result of anything to stressful!

Method - we're in the very last scene of what I retroactively consider chapter two... it says chapter one still, but that's because I don't have the tools top change that! Things slowed down quite a bit, but hopefully we can get it going again. You want in?

Work has been insane the last couple weeks so I have not had the chance to participate or rejoice in a move being made against Nantuka! :D Or to post some of my latest thoughts on how I want to proceed as a narrator:

What I might do is instead of trying for a long game is create a set of stories, all within the same universe, that last for a handful of arcs each. A player wishing to play in a sequel story can just copy/paste their previous character, edit whatever details changed after the events of the previous story they were in, and we can work together to get some cards moved across games that were either favorites or didn't get to see any action. It should make it easier to drop in and out between adventures, allow for more people to play without disturbing the flow, and if demand is ever at a high point, I can run multiple games, provided I feel I can do it at the time. And it'd be easier to bring to a close if I'm ever too busy or low on ideas. Another pro is I can more freely experiment with different ideas or call upon specific genres and warn people ahead of time if something may not be their cup of tea.

One con I can think of is your strength/weaknesses would go back to being 3x static strength; 1x wild strength; 3x static weakness; 1x wild weakness. I'm not sure how to go about making it so that aspect doesn't seem like a huge setback. Perhaps limit the number of players active to four from the very beginning so everyone has more chances to burn more of those cards and refresh? Not sure how else to counter that.

Thoughts from anyone?

I really want to play, but at this point it feels like the only real players are either de_la_nae, J or me. And I wish the others would play too, but at this point, I'd be glad to play a three people only campaign.

Maybe the trick here is to have players from "outside" - like a random player. That may help keeping player interaction high and could also serve to shake things up a little.

Yeah, I have a couple people I could maybe get to join that I think would be active. Also part of my reason for wanting to split off from this current campaign.

is henri still back? i wanted to make sure both etta & artemis got a chance to participate in the fight scene, but that one or the other could do it alone. we just need one strength card to win!

has anyone else found themselves slamming hard into that 400 word-per-move limit?
