It's a 24 hour ban for his unacceptably inconsiderate remarks about beliefs in the Hobby Lobby thread.

I don't, and if I did it'd be hard to jog my memory when the only information available is a sequence of gifs. >_>

And doesn't that 'door test' require that the other person is perceptive enough to notice that the other door is, in fact, locked, before they can make the decision? I probably wouldn't notice, but then I don't drive.

And now, in the category "cool stuff old people do"...

Based on the group membership, that'd be Jason as Red Hood, Tim as Robin (or Damien) and Dick as Nightwing.

Stephanie presumably relegated to groupie status.

Ahh.. not comics.. I was just basing it off of Injustice: Gods Among Us :)

Because Robin was in the Teen Titans... and they have Raven, Nightwing and Cyborg.. all with Teen Titan selectable costumes :)

So during lunch me and some coworkers stopped at a radio shack because co worker B needed to pick up something real quick.  Me and co worker A were looking at some t-shirts when some random guy came up to us and asked "Hey do you guys have an adapter that connects to an iphone to charge it?"  I replied "No sorry I don't have one."  He looks at me for a second and then walks away.  I turn to co worker A and asked wondered out loud "What was that all about." We turn around and Co worker A says "hey check out the cashier."  I look and see she is wearing a red shirt and black pants.  I then looked down and noticed I just so happened to be wearing the same thing.  We chuckled for a bit and when we got in line we noticed the exact device he was looking for was in the line for check out.  We laughed again and co-worker A noticed that the person left with an annoyed look on his face.  We explained to to B and we all had a good laugh out of it.

TL;DR- If you see someone who might work at the store you are in, ask them if they work there first.

This has happened to me in Target and Best Buy before so I think it is funny but at least in target and best buy the customers asked me if I worked there.

I stick to Al Jazeera and the BBC. NPR has let their website go down the "Infotainment" path recently, but fortunately it hasn't seeped into the radio.

TIME is the worst offender, just look at their Facebook page or their website, it makes me sad. I haven't read a print issue in a while, I hope for the sake of journalism and the great history of that magazine that it isn't like that now.

That video game thing is pretty misleading. One of the better developments in modern games is that the cutscenes in games are seamless with the actual gameplay. In fact, the only times I remember when cutscenes are shown is when they're acting double duty as a loading screen. Call of Duty? Only uses cutscenes when loading. Tomb Raider? Uses Quick Time Events, slowed down movement (such as crouching through crevices or inching through a pitch dark cave. Max Payne? Amazing cutscenes, but, again, only when loading.

You don't like cutscenes? Go back ten years of game development. Cutscenes existed there too and they only interrupted gameplay. Be glad game devs figured out how to make better use of them.

(and I'm not saying all cutscenes are good. MW3 had horrible cutscenes which were little more than animated slideshows. Same goes for MGS cutscenes. Oh, the horror. But when they're pulled off well, as in Tomb Raider, Max Payne 3, Uncharted, The Last Of Us, they're the thing that sells the game.)

I dunno.... I think cutscenes ruined games... they used to be only as an intro or an ending (or leading up the final boss as his intro). I liked that... but more at the point I'm getting at is that most FPS games now are extremely linear and nothing like Doom/Quake and such. It's like they don't trust us to be on our own and explore things.

I especially like the storytelling one. I believe it was John Romero (Or possibly John Carmack.. one of the Johns) that said, "Storytelling in a game is like background story in a porn movie. It's nice to have sometimes but it's not the reason your there."

Doom games - Space marine, problems with demons on Mars/Hell opened up.... kill things
Quake - Supernatural gods/Strogg (alien race) are causing problems... kill them
Even games like Serious Sam - Mental has a horde of engineered assholes. kill them on your way to him.

I like the simple, basic "kill them, they are fucking your shit up" story :)  I think that's why older games are still fun to play.. is they didn't take themselves so seriously.

Global Moderator Comment I have removed the picture of women with guns (and the responses); it was not appropriate for this thread because (a) guns and (b) politics. This thread is for fun, guys. Not anything else. This is why there are different threads and forums, so that stuff doesn't just get mashed together.

So because games are now more interesting, more elaborate, more of an art form, and have more investment you now don't like them? You're missing out on some truly remarkable games, and while there's still shitloads of shovelware FPSes out there, there's also plenty that are more like the first bit than the second. The first two Bioshocks for one just off the top of my head.

If you want mindless killing, well hey that's out there too. The Painkiller series is huge amount of fun, and consists literally of just 'kill everything until it's dead then move onto the next level.'

Sounds like more point-making in the pointless thread... just sayin'.

As to the game thing: I like games that are basically tautly-scripted movies that you can play, so I guess I am part of the consumer base to blame for cutscene-heavy fps design. Don't get me wrong, I grew up on Doom and Quake and such, but I am glad that games now are not just games then with better graphics.
