Honestly, which games use cutscenes outside of loading screens? I really can't remember any.

Here's hoping that Doom 4 will be awesome :)  I heard it was supposed to be more like Doom 1 and 2 while being nothing like Doom 3.

Speaking of doom.. this sky looks like one of the Doom skyboxes

Oddly enough, when playing through Mass Effect, I wanted more cut scenes and conversation scenes. I always thought the combat was the weakest and most boring part of the game, and generally just wanted to get it over with so I could wander around and talk with people...

I'm with you Neko.  I love the interactions with the characters, found the decisions cool at first, and the actual fps mechanics didn't really grab me.

And then you got to the multiplayer and realised the combat was actually freaking awesome? Because that's the way it worked for me - Shepard as a character was way OP, even at lower levels on higher difficulties, the multiplayer characters were very much not so. (well, barring Vorcha and Krogan sentinel classes with that absurdly fast health regen.. ) the multiplayer combat mechanics were amazing.

I'd have preferred if the focus were more on the RPG components. I really liked Mass Effect 1, but I stopped playing Mass Effect 2 when I was in a mission where I was just running from place to place, killing everybody. It became too "shootery" for me.

For me ME was a picture story with strong characters and variable story.

I was pretty much indifferent to the multiplayer, and thought that adding multiplayer shoot-em-up to a character driven game was jarring and awful.

I see them as two completely different things. The whole point of the multiplayer was to remind the audience that the Reaper War was so much bigger than just Shepard and Co.

Aw man, I was cleaning out my bookmarks and deleted a page of ME 3 multi-player memes. My favorite is still a Krogan one that says, "You call them Phantoms? I call them punching bags." My team would freak out at me any time I charged a phantom, but with my Krogan War Chief I just swatted them aside

I don't know how I ended up on this video, but it reminds me very much of my childhood because my aunt (who was also often my babysitter) only played NPR in her car.

I can't help feeling that those gaslighting suggestions are hilarious only to people who have never worried about their mental stability. Anyone pulling any of those tricks on me would be completely cut out of my life because frankly I have enough trouble remaining sane without someone trying to topple me.

That list is basically a list of (mostly impractical) ways of being an arsehole.  Frankly, that doesn't amuse me.

Wedding Planning should be in it's own category of gaslighting.

Instructions:
1. Stay out of the way as much as possible
2. Just sit back and watch
3. Leg it when the Bride inevitably tries to destroy Tokyo.

My friend Amelia got married the last weekend of June and I was her bridesmaid (you may remember how squealingly excited I was about being asked). She was the least Bridezilla bride ever. On the morning of the wedding the hairdressers and make up artist were arriving at quarter to nine to sort out the bridesmaids, bride, bride's mother and bride's sister. At five to nine I woke up in the bridesmaids' tent and realised that we were late. We were all in various states of partial undress and panic when Amelia appeared at the door to the tent and said "hello, please could we have some bridesmaids for hair and makeup?". Completely unflapped and not an angry word about how incompetent we all were at setting alarms!

The whole of her planning was like that too. I was asked to sing and totally forgot about it; two weeks before the wedding she reminded me and was calm while I figured something out.
