MOMENT OF THE WEEK TIME!

Hanners is DIZZY over the ROMANCE!
Does she ever get bummed out about it? (Physical contact?)
Not really. She can't handle it NOW, but maybe someday!
And those 8 gigs of sexy fireman pics from Pintsize? (Only FOUR, and she prefers cowboys now.)
Mom explains it all to Marten
Stop talking and let me be happy for you. (Yes dear.)
Marten is suddenly hesitant: What if it doesn't work out?
You can't live life without taking any risks.
What if you don't know what risks to take? Then take a bunch!
No basement to move back into, though.
Nice cuddle times by the TV...
You're supposed to go to the movies and fancy dinners and stuff.
All we do is play video games and watch anime and make out.
Well, do you wanna do that stuff?
Meh. This is nice.
In the middle of makeouts: BAM BAM BAM! (Oh for the love of - )
Hey buddy! It's me! May!
"SHIT" "Nice to see you too, ass-dick."

I know you were joking, but just as a reminder, the "no shipping" rule still applies.

I must say Jeph's gleeful comment under the comic made me giggle.

...and I hadn't realized it's Friday! Dammit!

Considering the orangeness of her clothes*, I'm guessing that's her jail uniform (i.e. she just got out and Dale's place is the first place she went).

The purpose of jail uniforms is it to make fugitives easy to spot. Poeple do not wear them when released. And in robot jail they have no bodies and no need for uniforms.

First, for relevance: yay May! I had to grin at the timing (forum speculation --> May! With a body!)

P.S. - [7] = Windows 7; [8] = Windows 8; [iM] = iOS; [trb] = Trek reboot. For "N" I would substitute "FF" (since Firefox is the spiritual heir to Netscape/Mozilla).
Oo, update FTW. The juxtaposition of law and social science seems kind of awesome/potentially uncomfortable. I probably could have put $ with MD actually. *wanders off to finish decoding Geek Codes.*

I was pleased to see her back - can't work out the context though. She's obviously corporeal now, which suggests release, but she's in prison uniform (maybe) which suggests still in the system. Parole maybe? Does the USA do release on parole?

I have to say that I had a similar reaction. I'm not fond of the idea of her becoming a permanent character.
Also, it would probably be better for Dale and Marigold to just be left alone for a while. Momo can do that - she has her own life and knows how to give people privacy-; with May I doubt it.

Good point; I'd forgotten about the lack of bodies in robot jail. Besides, that looks more like a track suit to me than a prison uniform.

Plus, she looks a bit too calm and relaxed to be on the lam...

I felt the same for most of her time - completely over the top obnoxious. But near the end when she got to meet everybody I kind of warmed to her, and I quite like her as a new character.

Yeah, Dickmouth Stinkface pretty much rubbed everyone the wrong way (except for one dude here, I remember). But come the end, May did make a pretty good turnaround in her personality (poor impulse control notwithstanding). It'd be interesting to see what's been happening since. And why not the jeans she'd wanted?

"You're not the May we're talking about..." (does strange Jedi-like wave of his hands)

On topic:

That outfit she has on looks a lot like Momo's kimono from her introduction way back when. I wonder if that's a basic "clothes" option for an Idoru chassis.

But she'll behave like she's met everyone when most people did not even know Dale had an AI riding along on his glasses. She'll engage in wonderfully awkward conversations with the cast. It could be great. Bet she know Marten's Mom's past occupation as well. :)

Just to chime in with a possible bit of trivia that may have some bearing on the situation.
Did not Dale, at the beginning of the DMSF arc, agree to something in the way of a contract?

And just for luls, here is my updated GC

Even that one's a bit outdated. I just got to the "Can you program the time on a VCR?" one.

It does need a complete rewrite and I think the database has taken at least one hit in the past since I faintly recal the number of submissions being much higher when it first came out.

:psyduck: I also wonder on exactly what algorithm they are using and how the answers are weighted for determining the purity that is nerd. :psyduck:

It at least used to be standard procedure for the prison to give a released inmate a suit of clothes and a token amount of money for a fresh start. For an AI the equivalent of a suit would be a body. It probably was never an expensive suit of clothes, though, and May's chassis looks way more expensive than Pintsize's.

Contrast that with an SDK85 with a whacking 256 Bytes of RAM  [yes Bytes - that is not a typo] and its Titanic sibling the SDK86 with 2k RAM.
:wow: much RAM, many functionality, such utility  :wow:

Pintsize's chassis is military hardware for one, and pretty outdated as I recall.

For the first computer I bought, I went for the FULL MEGABYTE of RAM, and the FULL 40 MEGABYTE hard drive - top of the line stuff.

And for the record, I own three really good slide rules, and I even taught slide rule at a junior college (in my younger days, of course).

She's not  a personal hologram in a set of Glasses anymore. When she embodied, why would she embody into a chassis with the skin color her prison form had?

Possibly so Jeph could drop this on us (the monster!) on a Friday and have us recognise her straight away. If she was (e.g.) green, we might have just gone 'Huh, some robot that Dale knows', and needed another strip to explain it.

What's the term for a human-form AnthroPC? Is there one?

She did introduce herself with the name that Dale gave her... So I'm pretty sure he (and the readers) would have gotten the joke even if she wasn't blue. It might well be though that she chose that color because that's how Dale saw her.. Or maybe she just likes blue. There was no reason why her image had to be blue.. It wasn't even a hologram, just superimposed on his vision by the Glasses. The readers just saw her as a 3D image because that's how Dale saw her.

Maybe Dale just had his glasses set to tint the HUD blue so he wouldn't confuse it with something real by accident, and May had/has no idea what setting he used and the colour of her issued shell is a complete coincidence?
