MOMENT OF THE WEEK TIME!

Hanners is DIZZY over the ROMANCE!
Does she ever get bummed out about it? (Physical contact?)
Not really. She can't handle it NOW, but maybe someday!
And those 8 gigs of sexy fireman pics from Pintsize? (Only FOUR, and she prefers cowboys now.)
Mom explains it all to Marten
Stop talking and let me be happy for you. (Yes dear.)
Marten is suddenly hesitant: What if it doesn't work out?
You can't live life without taking any risks.
What if you don't know what risks to take? Then take a bunch!
No basement to move back into, though.
Nice cuddle times by the TV...
You're supposed to go to the movies and fancy dinners and stuff.
All we do is play video games and watch anime and make out.
Well, do you wanna do that stuff?
Meh. This is nice.
In the middle of makeouts: BAM BAM BAM! (Oh for the love of - )
Hey buddy! It's me! May!
"SHIT" "Nice to see you too, ass-dick."

Historically, cowboys work for ranchers (who own the ranch). Or they work for whichever entity owns the cattle. Not having seen whatever Jeph has decided is on Hanners's storage media, I can't say for sure Hanners is into (pictures of) historic beef wranglers (or the dime-novel image thereof peddled to tenderfeet Back East) or today's fetish fuel.

Heheheh. Beef wrangler. Heheh.  :parrot:

I think Jeph tried to depict it sum], she always did. She just took her own sweet time recognizing him as a not-kid anymore (and, TBH, Marten took his own sweet time presenting himself as such. Moms just can't help responding  to that.)

Well, TBH, that was her own fault too. Being prude is one thing, letting sex toys lying around her little son and (IIRC) introducing him to "the girls" is another.
I guess it could mess up your perception of your own kids when you let them get in on such adult things on such a young age

No kidding.  I don't even know why we keep seeing these conversations.

About a month or so ago I went back and re-read the entire comic up to the most recent strip.  And when reminiscing about his move to stay with Vicky, Marten said himself that it wasn't so bad, because he took a risk, and is able to say he tried his best.

However, many strips later the entire Padma incident came crashing down,  and it ended in a confrontation with Faye where she had to basically tell him the same thing, as if it was a lesson he had not already learned.

And now, current Marten is a man baby who doesn't know how to take any risks at all?  Seriously?

So yes, maybe Jeph is right.  Maybe Marten is exasperating as a character, because we keep reading about how he's a total loser who sucks at life and doesn't understand how to tackle the real world, but nothing ever changes.

Perhaps I just need to relax and let the story tell itself.

Dale seems to have some aptitude for managing relationships.

This relationship is going to be good for both of them and address both their needs, so why do I keep thinking of it in terms of how good it is for Marigold?

Because we've known Marigold for longer and seen more of her backstory than Dale's, so we can identify with her more?

As a corollary to that, Dale has always seemed confident in the strips we've seen of him, whereas we've seen Marigold at her most vulnerable. I've no doubt the relationship will be good for them both, but we've seen concretely how it might be good for Marigold.

Well, Dale admitted being a virgin before meeting Marigold, so I guess Dale had a lot of insecurity issues regarding women. The way he interacted with Marigold earlier, indicated he had no clue on how to treat women in general. He made all the wrong moves. Despite this, he seems to be a nice person.

Meganerds like Marigold and Dale need a lot of external help, guidance, and threats if they ever are to hook up. They should be forever grateful to Momo and May.

I assume this is meant jokingly, but do you have any idea how condescending this sentence sounds?
There is no need to patronise anyone like that. I know the term "meganerd" is a quote from Faye; doesn't make it any better, though. I hate when people look down on others like that.

1) Some people are insecure about themselves and thus not too good with meeting new people and getting into relationships. This has however nothing to do with being a nerd or not.
2) There is also no need to desperately push other people to finally hook up with someone - your worth as an adult is not based on whether you've hooked up with anyone or not. In this case, it was good that Momo helped Marigold to get over some of her incsecurities and it is nice that it worked out as it did, but there is no need for Marigold and Dale to be eternally thankful to anyone for it. Today's comic shows that they an obviously very well manage a relationship on their own.
