And the world is a better place when it does.
Oh, no question, but I wish we lived in a world where they could live as they wished and not have to hide who they are to such a degree that it hurts so many others as well.

Consort as a musical group being an example of that.
I didn't know that usage at all. English-points increase! When will I level-up and equal PWH?

I've sometimes thought it's a pity that consort does not have wider use. It's more elegant that SO, less ambiguous than partner, and it's not gendered.

Queen Victoria's husband, Albert (of the Albert Memorial and the Albert Hall), was given the title of Prince Consort, so that usage is still moderately familiar here.  However, although the consort of the present queen is a prince, he has never been given that same title of Prince Consort, but remains Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh; it was suggested that he get the title of Prince Consort in 1957 and again in 2007, but nothing came of it either time.

In the posts above, fiddlestick was noted as meaning sword; that is of course also a pun, being able to refer to a violin (fiddle) bow as well to continue the musical meanings.

I've definitely used it before, though not as a noun. When I was little, I thought having a big vocabulary made me superior. I got a children's dictionary in second grade, and dammit if I didn't finish that whole thing.

It was no Mirriam-Webster, but it definitely had the word 'consort,' because I confused people with it.  I remember explaining how I wasn't Tucker's* best friend anymore because 'I do not consort with bullies.'

People get thrown off when tiny humans use words they don't consider normal.

I don't quite understand why Philip isn't King Consort if a king's wife is Queen Consort.

Basically the only time I encountered "Consort" being actively used was in the context of World of Warcraft. There is Dragon Queen Alexstrasza the Red, Aspect of Life, and her Consort (which is to say, mate). An Aspect is a Dragon who is basically a... demi-god with the particular domain.

Quote
She shares models, with Sylvanas
And she's always found at Wyrmrest Temple too
Her consort's name, is Korialstrasz
And she helps you take down Malygos the Blue

Misc thought: Incidentally, I have always pronounced her name not like in the video, but "Alestrazha". Strazha means "guard" in several Slavic languages.

I just sent an email to a high school in Himeji asking to be put in contact with their English club (so I can ask some questions for writing-related research) and I have not been this nervous about something in years.

Partly because my Japanese is so damn awful.

Just auditioned for a non-specific part in a local community theatre's production of A Christmas Carol. They did a vocals test to get an idea of our ranges, and apparently I have a 'fantastic' voice. Quote the theatre's music producer, 'magnificent falsetto, two full octaves'

Take that, lady who refused to give me that solo in our church Christmas program 14 years ago. I can't even remember your name, but you were wrong!

I honestly don't even care if I get the part right now.

Regarding tiny humans on airplanes, I flew just today with a chill child. Also, I flew across the country for the first time at about 8 months, so I'm kind of biased. I've done a decent bit of flying, and I've heard a lot more bitching about babies than I've heard little ones crying.

That reminds me of a line from Dr. Horrible where the protag says "hammer, meet nail!" Sure, that's...accurate for most of the movie, since Dr. Horrible does spend a lot of time getting hit by Captain Hammer, as nails do get hit by hammers. But he's saying this in triumph in a "the tables will turn!" way, so...doesn't really make sense.

That is so much of an add-on that it's basically a new joke. That would be on a whole different album, the way he did with the one about ant farms.

Random Thought 1: Among all the wonderful and genius TV shows that appeared in recent times I must say that Grace and Frankie is the most heart touching and engaging one of them.

Random Thought 2: when I type "Ra" at the beginning of a sentence, my Auto-Complete turns it to Random Thought automatically.

Mine doesn't actually have autocorrect (well it does, but I disabled it except for swear words...that is, it'll change "fu" to "fuck", "bs" to "bullshit", "fp" to "fuckpants, etc.), but the two words it suggests are rather and rain.

Yeah, my first move when I got this phone was to disable the autocorrect. The only thing even a little related to that is that according to my phone, the only things I might POSSIBLY have meant when I typed 'fujk' could be either 'Funk' or 'Fuji.'

This shall also by my first move with my next phone.

I get Raa but I'm not Cornish and haven't expressed an interest in the county on this phone previously. Perhaps O2 are secretly backing the Piranian Secesionist Movement.

Here's a weird, random thing! Facebook has decided to suggest King Buzzo (the guy from The Melvins) as one of the people I probably know, despite us having no friends in common. Okay, Facebook.

You know that thing that happens sometimes, when you try to join your community colege's brand new Film Club, and accidentally end up on the committee to write and shoot this year's 30 second ad space?

No?

This is just me, then?

I totally know what you are talking about. Happens a lot in voluntary work. First you are offering to update the "people" list on the website, and then three years later you are sitting there thinking "okay, 500 people will be here in three days, expecting housing for five days, and the university has given us enough space for barely 400 people. what the fuck do we do?"

And I'm getting a lot of crap in my feed I never used to get as well.

Occasionally I look at Facebook; I always then wonder why it exists.

(You ask why I bother; I have (grand)children - apparently I'm "supposed" to look at it.)

I got pretty fed up with it earlier on this year. People don't seem to really use it as a blogging system any more so I just use it for the occaisional sports/social stuff that I do and ignore just about everything else.

I did use to post about things I was doing or stuff that interests me but I think anyone who cared already knew so I just felt like shouting into a void which doesn't do much for my social anxieties.
