Not that we don't allow the use of real names if you wish, but it is the internet, after all...

I've spent an absurd amount of time keeping my name out of this place.  For no good reason, either.
There are all sorts of creeps on the internet.

I mean, I know I'm a creep, at least.

Apparently they give benefits at 20 hours, which is enough for me to say hell yes if they offer me the job, even if it means two separate commutes some days ("main" job by train, Starbucks would be by car).

I think the future of the whole western world would have looked significantly different if the Beatles, in stead of singing 'I want to hold your hand' would have sung 'I want to fuck your friend'. It might have been a better world. Afgter the fog of war would have cleared.

You do realize that 50 years ago the word #### was not used in polite society?

And as for the infamous statement in "Hey Jude" - I always thought Lennon was saying "Take it out" as if George Martin could take his vocal track out of the mix.

I did that a while ago after realising using one of my favourite songs as a ringtone was a bad idea (couldn't listen to it without reaching for my phone). First couple days I didn't even react to the new one, it was weird.

So a friend of mine made me aware of that apparently, if you make some sort of circle on the ground, cats will sit in it. I forgot about it until just now when the cord randomly made a circle on the ground when I unplugged my laptop, and my cat sat in it immediately. Weeeird!

It's probably been said before, but when I encountered this, many a year ago, it spoke to me.

My newest phone didn't have an option for that. The closest it came was a beeping sound. So I located the built-in tones directory from the old phone and copied it over to the additional tones on the SDcard for the new one. Because when my phone rings, it's going to goddamn ring.

See, I used to think that. But now I have a slightly more forgiving rule. My ringtone will never have words in it.

I'm not completely reactionary. My first cell used a song as tone for a week. I missed a lot of calls that week. My most recent phone had the default ring song for a day, because I didn't think the change it, after getting all of the other settings set. I almost missed the one call I got, but someone else thought their phone was ringing.

I'm from the age where phones rang. Apparently, I need retraining to function with something other than a bell. I won't say I've grown inflexible, because I haven't. But the technology allows me to make it sound any noise I want, and it's one less thing to worry about. I don't have any kids or other sentimental reasons to personalize the sound, and few enough people use ringing these day that I can be reasonably certain that sound is my phone. When it isn't, I know there's a kindred spirit near (or someone with a really old cell phone).

I just use the standard iPhone ringtone now. Which means I always reach for my phone whenever someone else's iPhone rings in public, and everyone else around me reaches for their phones when mine calls. Should probably change it, but meh.

I would totally use the TARDIS materialization sound if my phone could accept custom ringtones. Just to see how many people would look around when they hear it going off. :)

Hell, I'd call myself just for that. :D
