My gender is Currently Unspecified.

That reminds me of the gender options in a forum from a team in a game. "Male, Female, Undisclosed, Other".

This might sound worse than I want it to sound, but WHICH OTHER THO?

No male, not female, not hidden. Undisclosed implies "I'm not going to tell you." Other can suggest "I would tell you if this software had the appropriate option."

As it happens, I came upon a text today which explains it rather in depth:

Thanks for the information (it's 1:35am so I might just leave it for later to deeper read into it), although my question wasn't so much on "sex" but on "gender" and the fact that, after all, one is referred to as either "mr" or "ms", which in a better world it'd always be what the person identifies as. And really, if you're not telling what you are between "mr" and "ms" then the logical conclusion is that you're hiding it.

Of course this can come from my limited understanding of the world (and the fact that I'm studying to be a sysadmin and I'd like to keep that as a yes/no field on future databases), but I really don't see how someone would be adressed in a different way - hell, as far as I know, Spanish language doesn't have another gender.

Even though I don't personally need it, I think a gender option of "Nunya"
(click to show/hide)
would come in handy.

We've had forum members in the past (and perhaps some in the present) who identify as genderfluid - often presenting as either male or female, depending on their mood, location, company, and other variables.  Or not presenting as anything specific and letting you guess.  I think that's one way of classifying as "other" without choosing "not disclosing".

My sincerest apologies. I'm certain that at some point I had picked up on a gender specification but that was probably the product of some misunderstanding, misinterpretation or other form of confusion that I'm prone to. I shall revert to non-specific terms until further notice.

No, no.  GMT stays the same, but is only the official UK time for half the year.
I thought so too, but apparently, not everyone agrees.

I thought "fictive" was a made up Tumblr word, but according to my dictionaries it's been in use since the 17th century.

Explosive welding doesn't actually need that much High Ex, and in commercial application it's not really for steel, Explosive welding and it's close cousin Friction Welding (Wherein you take two pieces of material, spin one really quickly, hold the other still and introduce A to B.) is used to merge materials that don't normally play or weld well together.

A long time ago when I worked for BT, a customer called up reporting that a direct lightening strike had killed his landline. Apparently the dropwire took the runt of the hit causing the base unit of his cordless phone to explode. The remnants of which were rather permanently attached to the oak countertop they had been sat on. The handset had been thrown across the room into a concrete pillar. Anything that hadn't shattered across the room was going to have to be crowbar'd out, mostly the battery.

Explosive welding, nature got there first.

The strike also fed back to the secondary distribution point and knocked out half the neighbourhood. When I spoke to the customer about a week later to discuss progress on repairs, he told me that the house still smelt of melted battery.

Also that's a horribly low bar. Here in Cantabria, where the weather is randomized, that shit happens.

Tony Abbott got democratically elected, somehow. Let's not go assuming that the whole of the general public leans as far left as we do. Not even this whole forum leans that far left.
