I don't get it, what's wrong with moist?

It sounds icky. Just as a word. Though its meaning doesn't help much.

It certainly causes me to cringe, which made both "Going Postal" and "Making Money", though both good reads, rather painful.

Aubergine is a similar sort of word for me, as is oubliette.

Fortunately I rarely encounter a moist aubergine in an oubliette.

I need to go and throw up a little now.

Wikipedia gives us:

Quote
Some 18th-century European cultivars were yellow or white and resembled goose or hen's eggs, hence the name "eggplant".[

However, it also gives us this delightful little nugget:

Quote
The usual word in Italian remains melanzana.[13] An alternative Italian etymology is "mela insana", insane apple.

This pleases me no end.

Your cat has certainly impressed me.

This message is coming from an empty space. It's coming from a region which is intuitively known yet defies understanding. We are born into this world with its name imprinted upon our minds, but age and learning strip it away. It is the unconscious knowing. It is the dreaming state. It is the void of the before times. This message is coming from my ancient Dell laptop in my bedroom.

Cats can be surprisingly smart.

This message unlocks the door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension. A dimension of sound. A dimension of sight. A dimension of mind. I can't help but notice the whole "share this post so kids will see how posts get shared!" trend over the past few years...but a post that you want shared and insist get shared getting shared won't convince a stupid teenager that a picture they don't want shared and try to hide will STILL GET SHARED. If anything, it seems counter-productive.

Apparently buying a 6-pack of soda now gets a similar reaction from people as buying a pack of smokes. While I was waiting in line, an old man looked at me weirdly, leaned over and said, "Ya know that stuff ain't no good for ya, right?"

Oh, the word "trenchant." How I loathe it. When I took the GRE, the computerized test figured out I didn't know the meaning of the word and ended up using it repeatedly.

Anyway, out of curiosity I used Google Maps to measure the distance I would have to walk if I wanted to walk from the apartment I'll be moving into in Madison to the physics building at the university, and it turns out it's 3.14159 miles. I swear I did not pick out the apartment for that reason. I should've gone for the one that was 1.61803 miles away, even though it was more expensive
