Cheese curds

It's unaged cheese. In Québec they use it to make Poutine.

They're supposed to squeak.

So are mice. Who eat cheese. Here in the south, cheese don't squeak unless there's something living inside it.

Suspicious cheese is suspicious.

I've been outside. It was damp. Had a hobo take up residence in my tent one time. True story.

I'm happy staying in from now on. That hobo later overdosed on hand sanitizer, also true*

I created an email address that is just my full name for the express purpose of applying for jobs. I set up auto-forwarding to my main account but became concerned that a response to an application could still get lost in the junk folder. Thus I have set up the following filter.

matches: -buttholes
action: Never send it to spam

Apparently I failed, because gmail just sent a job application response (it's a no, eat dicks Chicago Shakespeare Theatre) to spam, and nowhere in the email wishing me the best of luck in all my future endevaours were there any iterations of the word butthole.

You can lose skin curling, especially if you're scrubbing your broom too hard, or you fall on the rink after sliding with the rock.

When you get your (semi)permanent WI drivers license, you'll wonder if it's real, because they sorta look and feel counterfeit.

At least they do compared to the previous ones I had before this new design.
Wow, you weren't kidding. I don't think it would look any more counterfeit if the name on it was McLovin'.

You made them feel. That means something, whether or not you meant it that way. It's a sign of quality story-telling to evoke emotion. If you evoked a different one than you intended, then at least you can look back at how the story was told and know it was done well. Maybe it's just the part of me that knows the emptiness of depression, but any emotion, negative or positive, is good. I've felt blank for more than I'm okay with.

Then reconsider everything about how you told it because you meant to get a different response.

I guess the thing that's getting to me is I'm not sure why they cried. I was talking about a dead cousin who had a disability (we were teaching about disabilities) and I mentioned that he died, but also that I didn't think of him as a different or lesser person when he had a big cchunk of his brain removed. It was kinda sad regardless, but I'm hoping I didn't make them cry because I reminded them of a dead family member or something.

If it's a rarer disability, and a significant chunk of people, they were likely just empathizing. If it was a single person, and they were inconsolable, then it's possibly the latter, but still more likely their empathy. It sounds like a sad story, really, just from what little you've said.

The meditation one was probably just emotional release. Crying isn't always about sadness, for some people it's just thier response to letting go. I've dated a couple women who cry after orgasm and I've read enough from others no it's not entirely uncommon. I take it as a sign your class was really successful for them.

At least one was because it had her thinking of her dead relative. We had a sharing part at the end, which is the only reason I found out.

It was my first time leading a meditation, just as it was my first time talking to kids about disabilities. I get that they're emotional topics for some people, but damn, 5 out of my 10 kids this week.

I'm starting to think I may have a caffeine problem.

The coffee machine at my last job was actually named after me. Not even joking there, the guy who bought it for the campe dedicated it to me because he knew how much I liked my morning coffee.

Now, I haven't had any for three days. I'm the one at work who buys the grounds, brews the coffee every morning, and we ran out on Monday. Seeing as I've known for about a week that today would be my last day, I figured I wasn't about to spend part of my last paycheck on coffee for the rest of the clinic.

It's like being hungover, only for me, it's worse, because I've never had a bad hangover before.

Fun story: shortly after my dad died, my brother was visiting. While he was in the basement, he plugged an extension cord he found into an outlet. All of a sudden, a weird smell permeated the house. I realized what was happening, ran out to the circuit breaker box, and turned off the power to the basement. My dad had wired up that cord and outlet such that if both ends of the cord were plugged in at the same time as the light on the front porch was on, it would cause a short. Of course I knew this was a bad idea and told my dad it was a bad idea when he did it, but he wasn't one to take my advice...

(That doesn't excuse my brother, though. If you see an extension cord and you don't know what it's doing, don't plug it in.)

I come in to work the other night. I'm informed that our control panel - the one that operates all the resident doors in the living unit - has been shut down at the circuit breaker because there was smoke coming from under the panel.

The panel was made before many of you were even born. I think even Mr. Hodges would look at this thing and say, "Wow, that's an old piece of equipment."

I'm just surprised that the thing burnt out now.

I think Mr. Hodges would look at it and go "Oh my, that looks like the work of old Vincent. I knew him - we shared a cup of tea in London 1967, shortly before he moved to Australia, where he wrestled a crocodile and was subsequently eaten by the crocodile's mate. They tell me his last words were "Should've added an extra circuit in", the meaning of which I realize only now as I look upon this piece. You see, because of a rare construction error in one of ten thousand of those pieces (which I had the questionable pleasure to discover in 1983), ...".
