Nobody was sent to New Zealand, since it was never a penal colony. Treating NZ's history as the same as Australia's is as silly as treating Canada's as the same as the USA's.

I love this analogy so much. Our hat had a history before we knew her, we don't judge her for that.

The US got its fair share of convicts, as well.  IIRC, Georgia and at least parts of the Carolinas were once penal colonies.

One thing I learned from the ESPN athlete photo shooting: Thor is real and he plays Rugby.

I have been working as the technical director on a new play where half the actors are Deaf. I now have been given a name sign.

It's the sign for hammering a nail, but with the right hand forming the letter "D" (the first letter in my name)...because I'm the one building the set.

Inspired by the video in the Relationship thread, I found out how many of my Facebook friends are people I met online versus meat life.

45% are people I met online. I find that really cool.

I dunno the percentage, but I certainly talk to online friends more than the ones I met in real life. One of my best friends is someone I met online in high school and have only hung out with in person once.

But all lines have been busy for the last 5 mins. Sooo I'm just gonna assume I'm not the only one having a problem and go to work.

Sodium and chlorine are both elements forged in the heart of stars.

We also eat elements that are heavier than iron, so the claim holds up if you consider nuclear fusion through supernova explosions to be 'processed sunshine' as well.

Lithium isn't made in stars, though. That's why it's so rare in the universe. So if you happen to eat something containing lithium, then you're eating processed Big Bang.

There's nothing new under the sunshine, processed or otherwise.

Would this imply also, that the sun itself is un-new? Or just everything it shines upon? I appreciate the Ecclesiastes reference, btw, my favorite biblical book, but I do wonder. The book itself is rather florid, I can't be sure what you intend

There's nothing new under the sunshine, processed or otherwise.

Litigious musicians often say otherwise - tell that to George Harrison, or even Robin Thicke.

Anyway I might just keep the line I said.

According to my calculations, math is hard and I don't feel like doing it right now.

Apparently the power outage I mentioned above was the result of 'human error' during a line repair, causing 50,000 people to be without power for over 2 hours.

Now the question I'm wondering is - is that employee fired, or did they just have to deal with a lot of shit from their buddies back at the office.
