All I can say about  today's strip (21/10) is that this is a very bad moment for Amber to be having a Blaine flashback.

That said, the Ruger 1v is a slow-loading single-shot hunting rifle. Even assuming that Ross thinks to grab it when Amber reaches them, he's going to have, at most, one shot before this turns hand-to-hand.

Oof. It would be really anticlimactic for Amazigirl's daring rescue attempt to end with her slamming into a tree thanks to an innopportune right turn

As expected, the filth are more concerned about shots being fired than a young woman being kidnapped by an abusive piece of shite.

Considering it's been at best a few minutes since Ross shot into the air, I think that's pretty fast reaction time. If they were responding to a call about a guy running through the woods with a gun chasing a couple of girls, they started in the wrong area, and probably got diverted towards the fountain after the shot. Which is the latest information they have. And considering they think they have an active shooter to deal with, it's understandable they would give Amazi Girl a slide. More important issues and all that. They have no idea they're driving right by the shooter and his kidnapping victim.

Oh well, looks like (at least for now), it's going to be up to Amber to sort this out. The police seem to be in an unfortunate loop of racing around and only arriving at a location after the party has moved elsewhere.

Can you blame them? I know if I were calling the police, it would be about the fucking maniac with a gun; I probably wouldn't have heard nor given a shit about his motivation or escape vehicle. I would be a bit shaken with terror at my potentially upcoming doom, you know? I doubt anyone on the phone thought to mention Becky. The police aren't ignoring the abusive situation to stop a potentially murderous one, they're driving past an especially stressed-looking father-daughter duo on their way to investigate a shooting.

So... Sal is responding to her concern that Amazi-Girl will dangerously escalate this situation by enabling Joyce to do so instead. Well, she wouldn't be human if she didn't apply different rules to people who she likes!

And, as the comments over there pointed out, as far as things go for Joyce, "god damned" is likely a far worse swear than "fuck", because of the way that it takes the lord's name in vain.

Oh, it is.

I've heard it argued in church that 'fuck,' in context, isn't necessarily sinful because it's a word being used to describe a process God has signed off on, and the same for 'shit,' etc. but GD has always been untouched. 'Damn,' as a whole, is hard to defend, as it suggests that we humans have power over that realm of being.

It's not a commonly heard argument, but there's people who think that way.

With Becky strapped-in, I almost *hope* that there is a crash, just so ToeSD can fly right through the windscreen and Amazigirl pulls off a fancy jump over the car.

I figure that Becky is about to do something. I'm not sure what but, in the end, she's just wanted to avoid anyone getting hurt. The window to end this in a way that no-one ends up seriously injured is closing fast and I suspect that she's going to try something random and potentially dangerous.

So, anyway, Willis has put up some preview art on Tumblr

It's sort of sad, really. Ross has this hard-wired impression of what a 'woman' is and what she looks like and he literally can't bear Becky being anything else. It really is control freakery taken to the ultimate degree.

Meanwhile, Amazi-Girl seems to have pulled something out of one of her costume pouches.

This can't end well for Amazigirl.

It may not end well for anyone currently speeding down the road. You see... What is she looking at in such a shocked manner? It's highly unlikely that she's noticed Ross looking at her in the mirror. The possibility of an oncoming 18-wheeler that Ross missed because of his current preoccupations leaps to mind!

I would argue that it isn't a spoiler as it is in the current strip.

Got to admit that I missed that one! My eyes tend to snap to the speech bubbles, so I miss little things like that.

It does make sense. Becky tapped something around waist level 3 times while distracting Ross. That could have been dialling 911, or trying to anyway. Then she loudly started talking about what just happened, essentially explaining that her father just kidnapped her at gunpoint from the school. It's a risky move doing that, because if the 911 dispatcher started talking first or Ross heard a dialtone it would be over and he'd take the phone away. But she was also trying to distract him from Amazi-girl following.

Ross needs some serious help and intervention though to see how destructive his world view is being to his family. The question being will he actually listen to anyone instead of just assuming he's right because god is on his side.

Missed that myself actually till you pointed it out.  I would say she has dialled 911 at this stage and Ross spying Amazi-Girl is only going to make him stop and start waving that damned gun around again I think, which is only going to escalate the situation if that's the case.

Seriously, though, was that red car in the same lane?  Just...closely following a car that was merrily pulling a skateboarding costumed superhero behind it?  What the heck?  I mean, I know they're on/near a college campus, but you see what looks like some college kids pulling weird shit like that, don't fucking tailgate, all right?

RIP Amber/Amazi-Girl.

Ouch. This is going to hurt. I also suspect that the fight in between Becky and Ross will lead to a crash.
