Is Sal even aware that it was Amber that stabbed her all those years ago?

Fair sure no. I think the recognition only went the one way

I'm thinking the same thing.

It's gonna be interesting to see where this goes from here with her and Sal.

A. I wish there was a way to see the hovertext on a phone.
B. Holy shit I didn't know that was how you spelled "Flintstone". I made duh, it makes sense, but I've never heard that first t pronounced, I've only heard "flinstone" and that's how I thought it was spelled. (I haven't actually seen the show or I guess seen it written down in years, but still)

Here it comes, I think, some sort of thing where Amazigirl makes reference to that gas station event.

I could be entirely wrong, but that whole 'I'm glad we won't be friends' line seems to me like something that Amber would then have a retort about, and that would continue the conversation. The gas station event is simply a projected possibility; my actual prediction is that there will be more words.

Also, is it just me, or is Sal maybe being sarcastic here out of fear of rejection. It's just a possible way to inflect her sentence at the end that would suggest such a thing.

Sal seems to have moved on with her life far more than Amber/AG has.  That isn't to say that she doesn't have serious issues, including having only one friend (who is too busy much of the time these days), and Joyce is the only other person she seems to have warmed up to.  And that was *maybe* 20 minutes ago.  But Amber/AG is in many ways still living with the robbery and her own father, using the costume to cope.  Even if she *did* save Becky, a lot of it seems to have been less altruism and more her own demons.

I'm really hoping that Sal was perceptive enough to see the girl who was so terrified of her that she backed herself into a tree-trunk has just ducked behind Amazi-Girl for protection. That isn't something that you would expect of someone entirely mentally healthy.

I'm trying to work out why Amazi-Girl seems even slightly interested in the fact that Sal has a criminal record. I mean, Amber watched her being dragged away by the cops at the convenience store job. Either she's disassociating even more or this is her attempt at maintaining her secret identity by not letting Sal that she already knows her on a personal level.

Probably more "good, you deserve everything horrible that happensto you for trying to hurt my friend'. I think Sal does want more friends, especially with Marcy hanging out with other people and not wanting to spend 24/7 with her. Sal has trust issues so huge they wouldn't fit in a tractor trailer though, and an acidic personality to push people away. Here today though she's reached out in her own way to Joyce several times, even putting her own life on the risk to help Joyce, Becky and Amazi-Girl. After all she could have easily let AG go splat on that truck instead of a crazy stupid stunt to try and save her. Then pulled her away before the cops showed up. They would absolutely not have let AG's part in this slide. Sure some might quietly or even openly approve of what she did to save Becky. But in doing so she put so many lives on that road in danger. It was as much dumb luck as anything that nobody is laying on the road broken or dead right now. And then her first reaction when Sal says 'Hey everyone's okay. I saved you and got you away from the cops while you were knocked out' is to pull out the verbal spikes.

It's also all so hypocritical too. Sal was arrested as a kid for trying to rob a store with a knife. Amber was not arrested for stabbing Sal while she was being taken into custody, right in front of the cops. Sal has a harsh temper and rebels against authority. Amber regularly sneaks out in costume and beats people up. Sal is regarded as the mean, dangerous one. Amazi-girl is lauded as a hero. Yeah, all this seems totally fair to me.

Maybe. Depends if either of them are willing to talk or listen. Equally likely they could both ride/run off in a huff, even more angry at each other than before.

When Sal mentioned the saving, I would have expected Amber to be shocked enough to drop out of AG. Instead, it looks like she got more into it :/

So, now we understand Sal's problem with Amazi-Girl. She looks at that other person and she sees herself as a young teen - a troubled personality acting out for attention. She's 100% wrong, of course, but how would she ever know that?

Right now, I'm more worried about Amber's physical health. Sal is too busy storming off in a huff to notice that Amber's injuries are catching up with her.

Well, considering what we knew, can you blame us? Crazed religious zealot with a rifle was being followed by masked vigilante on a skateboard, ending in a trip to the hospital. Everyone got super lucky in this sequence of events.

He has been using his tumblr for a *lot* of trolling the readers.  Given where we are in the arc, I shan't spoiler these couple of examples, since these issues have already resolved themselves in-comic.  Since the whole thing with the Toe started, his preview panels from next year didn't have Becky or Amber in them.  This was clearly intentional, just to stir people up.  As was the hospital, and Willis saying that "maybe Walky needed his appendix out" or something along those lines.  Honestly, I think that AG/Amber's interaction with Sal hurt more than the head injury.

Back to the comic, I'm pretty sure that we're at the actual winding-down, since all of the things brought up are, if not resolved, going to be shown in a future arc.  Given the glacial pace at which this comic runs, that may be *quite* a while.  Hell, the Toe may not even face trial for another 5-10 years at this point.

I'm actually most worried about Amber right now; she looked on the verge of collapse in the last panel of yesterday's strip.

Now, I wonder if Dorothy will quickly become insufferable because she's hanging around Joyce, fretting about her 'trauma' and wondering if swearing in a crisis is somehow a precursor of a breakdown.

She had better at some point. She got beat around quite a bit during that chase. If she doesn't have at least a concussion from hitting that car I'll be surprised. I'm sure she'll say 'secret identity' and such, but she can always head there some time after everyone else and say she fell off a skateboard. Which is technically true...

I think Dorothy is overreacting

I think that today's strip (11/11/15) answers this quite well. Dorothy really, really was terrified that she'd never see Joyce again and never be able to make peace with her.

It also reminds us that Joyce is as much Dorothy's best friend as Dorothy is Joyce's best friend. Jealous Becky just needs to learn to deal with it and also learn to deal with the fact that not every relationship has romantic and/or sexual underpinnings.

Well to be honestly, Dorothy doesn't have a lot of friends in general. She wasn't really planning on staying at this university long, just until she could transfer to one with a Much More Important Sounding Name. Becoming friends with Joyce and dating Walky was just kind of.. unexpected complications. As far as Becky goes, I think she's dealing with her unrequited crush with Joyce and an attraction to Dorothy.. That and her being Super Duper Out Lesbian to her seems to mean making sexual innuendos whenever she can. Contrasted to what she's actually like around Dina. She's still pretty much has that isolated, repressed upbringing mentality going on.

I actually *do* have OCD, and some pretty serious contamination issues amongst the other stuff going on in my head.  Being able to joke about it is something I actually find quite therapeutic as a sort of "fuck you" to my OCD.

I didn't know you personally dealt with it. I apologise for my quick reaction. The comment, without the knowledge, plus the previous term "a little OCD" bothered me. Finding ways to cope personally is valid and important but I mistook it for the common way people who don't deal with mental illness generalise and mock mental health issues.

No apology needed.  We don't always have context for everything, and I probably would have done the same in your shoes.  I'm just glad that I'm in a place now where I can laugh about it, and shake hands with people and everything.  After I posted that, I actually looked at my hands and realised that they haven't been dry and peeling for a couple of weeks now.  Happy place.

Yay, Dina's not dead!
Most of that sequence, the framing is actually from Dina's perspective.

I'm expecting Sarah to be all stand-offish, rebuking Joyce for getting herself caught up in others' troubles and doing something crazy like chasing off after a gunman. Then, as soon as they're in private in their room she'll hug her tearfully and sternly order her to tell no-one that this had happened.

Wasn't my intention to offend.  It's just that sometimes Dorothy reminds me of Hannelore from QC with the way she acts.

Maybe Dina should work as an Infiltration Specialist when she graduates.  Good to know she's OK though.

Hannelore from QC
I looked up other Hannelores, at first to give a smartass "as opposed to Dr. Hannelore von Kamprad from Hitman 2: Silent Assassin?" (the only other fictional one wiki listed). Then I got curious how common a name it was. Out of six real life Hannelores I found, five were German and one was Belgian. The most popular profession is politician.

I would steal two peoples' identities for the sole purpose of getting her elected.

Would she be eligible (age aside)? Was Station over the US when she was born?

(I know her parents are probably both US citizens making that irrelevant, I'm just having fun with this)

Fixed your brackets.

Also, as for her mom running for President, I'll quote Lex Luthor, "do you know how much power I'd have to give up to be President?"

I wasn't suggesting Mother Chatham would run, I was suggesting she'd clear legal blockades to her daughter's campaign

Oh, I know, but that quote applies more to her than Hanners (at least for now), and I really wanted to use that quote.
