Oh, it *is*.

And since I can now post what I posted on Patreon yesterday:

That last bit about getting those cops back in helps deal with the worry that Becky wouldn't be pressing charges.  It very much sounds like if he ever gets out of prison, he'll be using a walker.

I guess you could post about Patreon stuff as long as it's in a clearly marked spoiler.

Well, it's not a spoiler, but the comment that I made there, and that I'm only making here after the comic went "live".  It only refers to today's public strip, and the what I had said before that happened.

Oh, I know, I'm saying it would've been ok if you'd said that yesterday as long as you'd spoilered it.

I know you're not wrong and that it's far from my place to tell a mod what is and isn't okay, but please do not encourage this. I know what the spoiler thing is meant for, and it's entirely on me for clicking to read the post, but the majority on this thread are speculation built around single shots from Willis' teasers, and I'm just so curious what is being said. I can't and won't complain, but it's still nice to not have things actually, legitimately spoiled.

See, the single shots and Willis teasers are still spoilers, and I'm just making sure that people label the spoiler tag with what kind of spoiler it is. (Speculation, Willis-provided or Patreon). Although speculation that's just from already "aired" comics doesn't really need a tag.

Dina sets several bars for cuteness in today's strip. I particularly like her bashful smile in panel 5!

That's the reason I don't do it, and that I wait until a strip goes "live" before copy-pasting the comments that I had made on the early panels.  I still haven't posted about the dialogue changes in certain strips between versions.

Wait, he changes dialogue sometimes?

Also I disagree that you have any obligation to not show people what you get from Patreon. If you get a book and it has extra stuff in it, you'll probably show your friends. How is this any different?

Because the advanced Patreon strip is a bonus you get for signing up and subscribing, basically. It's not extras in a book, it's an advanced reward for supporting the artist. If you repost it, you're letting everyone see the advance without paying to do so. It's a kind of skeezy thing to do, both in terms of spoilers and in respect for the artist.

Dang. Now I'm glad I don't see the advanced ones if I'd have to end up waiting for the real one.

Edit: Also good point, Neko, I guess I didn't think of it like that.

And I'm glad to hear they've talked to the cops about what happened. Hope Ross winds up in pokey for this.

I don't get that reference.

What it means is that, to me, Dorothy looks mad enough with Walky that there will probably be a chill between them. Sex is most definitely off the menu until Dorothy gets over her anger.

I think I know what's happening right now in Becky's head. It's irrational, yes; it may even be emotionally self-destructive but she'll probably never be free of a subconscious desire for Ross's approval and the desperate hope that, one day, he'll accept her. He's her father and that makes things complicated, no matter how thoroughly he defiles the role.

I well know the feeling. I spent (wasted) a lot of years trying for my father's approval. Doing things I hated and trying to be someone I wasn't. But no matter what I tried, it just wasn't good enough, and I wasn't happy because I wasn't being true to myself.

If he stands by what he did, then she knows he's lost to her and has closure. If he apologizes, and means it, then maybe she'll visit him in prison.

Since we'll never get past freshman year, as long as Willis never writes something that directly contradicts that into the comic, as far as I'm concerned that's their future.

Edit: Also I wish it wasn't so expensive to get tomorrow's comic. I'm a patron but $60 a year is just too much :/

Becky needed to say those words but, unfortunately, I don't think that there was ever a loving heart to receive them. That's the worst part of this: Her family was always a lie.

It's too soon to tell if I called it completely, but my speculation seems to be still on track.  What really made it, though, was Becky's smile as she extended those fingers and backed out of the room.

Predicting it now: Becky will cry her eyes out on Dina's shoulder as soon as she's out of line-of-sight and earshot. What makes me say that? Becky's false grin; I've seen her use that one before when she's upset or suppressing her feelings.

I'm with that.. This looks like Becky Bravado going on here. Ross's actions have to cut her to the quick. She just wants her family back. Unfortunately, she has this image of her family that doesn't match what the reality is. That is something she shares with Ross, really. The trouble is their visions contradict each other. In the end, Becky is doing what she has to do. She's made efforts to reach out to her dad, and he refuses unless she submits to what he wants. The exact opposite of unconditional love there. Maybe he'll come around eventually. But Becky at least has some support at the school. Now if only she can get herself established before she gets kicked out of the dorms.

As a fuckin' scientist*, I think Becky's double-birding of Ross is pretty much the perfect gesture to go along with what she said.

* (okay, fine, non-fuckin' scientist...)

So, will Carla buy Amber's lame deflection or will curiousity lead her down an unexpected rabbit-hole?

I don't know much about Carla, but would she care enough to investigate?

Well, if it was me, Toedad just made it a whole lot easier to continue pressing charges and cutting him out forever.

I mean, she doesn't need to press charges. Without Becky being involved at all he has the whole discharging a weapon in public/vehicular assault rap going on. That cop was right, she doesn't ever have to talk to him again if she doesn't want to.

Ah, I don't know how these matters work in the US specifically or in general.

Essentially, either the victim or the government (locality, state, or federal) can press charges. For some crimes, the victim has to do it, for other crimes, the government can do it.

There's some crimes that Ross committed where the government can do it even against the victim's consent.

Attempted Kidnapping (even if it's his own daughter, she only went with him when he started waving the gun around.  I think any witnesses would attest to that.)
Illegal Discharge Of A Weapon In A Public Space
Assault and/or Assault With A Deadly Weapon
Threatening To Kill
Dangerous Driving (Possibly with additional charges relating to the crash)

I'm glad to see Amber's somewhat OK though.
