Fiddler's Green in December. I'm all giddy for it but I'd also like to go to another show in between. Found nothing appealing yet, so we'll se about that. Anyways, FIDDLER'S GREEN, FUCK YEAH!

I've never seen them before, so I'm really excited to see how it goes. Looks like they're on a pretty big tour: http://www.geocities.jp/azaplink/mb/mxbx.html

Sadly not coming anywhere close to me.

Seeing them for the third time in mid-October. The show was just announced yesterday, kinda out of the blue. Really looking forward to it.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor is playing at the great Union Transfer here in Philly with Daniel Higgs(!!!) opening. I love how these guys announce their shows just weeks before they happen. Tickets were on the pricey side ($30), but I'm moving to the wilderness for 6 months and won't see any music during that time so it's worth it in my book.

I just remembered I'm seeing The Mountain Goats next week! Sort of forgot about it since I got my ticket a long time ago, but woo!

The next festival me and my girl are going should be pretty sweet.
Big day out Sydney:
Pearl Jam, Blur, Arcade fire (saw them a few years ago), Major Lazer, Tame Impala and Flume, plus a whole bunch more.
Pretty mainstream stuff i know, but ill be damned if it isnt a great 12hours of music.

Also if Janelle Monae comes back to Sydney, ill be there in a hearbeat, we had to miss out last time due to lack of money (we spend it all on CD's)

Wow, Mountain Goats last night was incredible, John Darnielle is one of very few musicians who can make me cry and laugh in the same show. Brilliant, as always. I hope I get to see them again soon.

Been waiting to see Coheed & Cambria for the past month and got to see them last night in B-more.  Was awesome!

Saw Stephen Lynch last night, didn't expect there to be three other people on stage with him but the only full name I remember is Courtney Jay. It was brilliant, so funny and all four were amazing singers. I really loved that so much of the music was new to me and that his newer stuff isn't as vulgar as his early stuff.

Saw Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin tonight. Chilled with Phil after the show, he is such a cool happy person. This week is amazing.

Saw They Might Be Giants with my brother last night. It apparently was the first time they ever played in Belfast so it was more like a night of greatest hits with only a couple new songs and it was so much fun. Tiny crowd but they were all so into it. My brother isn't really a fan of TMBG but he came with me so I wouldn't be alone and he was delighted he went in the end which was a good feeling. Great show to call my first proper music gig.

Saw Barenaked Ladies in Dublin last night and it was so much fun and their support act, Boothby Graffoe, was very entertaining and funny. YAY! So glad I got to go the show.

Going to see Braid tonight at Asbury Lanes. Trying to move some things around so I can hopefully pick up the new album they're touring to promote, but it's not looking like I can swing it this pay period. It being the Summer and the $2 an hour parking being in effect doesn't help matters. Either way still pretty amped cuz I never got to see them live before.

Not that it's saying much, but at least parking's still cheaper in Asbury than it is in Point.

  • I'm gonna keep you in love with me for a while

Thanks to a hell of a good tax return, I'm seeing the following over the next few months:

The Beards

Ben Folds w/ The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra

Bill Bailey

And Nick Cave and the Motherfucking Bad Seeds. Oh yes.

I was supposed to go see Kings of Leon, Young The Giant and Kongos next month. Instead, I am going on vacation. However- to make me feel less sad about missing them, I think I'm going to see James McMurtry in November with my dad. :-) Hell yes.

I'm rather envious, they're good live.  Nick Cave and Co. really give it their all when performing.  It's just sad that Blixa is gone.

If I'm at all able to scrape-up the money, I'll be able to see Swans in SF in Sept, and maybe even Slowdive in Nov.

Late next month Amaranthe and Within Temptation are in town! Totally going!

Then there's this: http://denver.riotfest.org/?sort=day

I wish Slayer, New Found Glory and De Antwoord were on other days. I don't really like the latter but I'm interested enough to go you know? but the main band I want to see is on Sunday, (DKM) which would also let me see Sublime, Wu Tang Clan, Rise Against, and Bouncing Souls. I could just get a two day pass, but fuckin a they're expensive as hell. Even the one day passes might not be doable... curses.

Sabaton is also starting their tour for their new and incredible album Heroes so they should be here next year...

My daughter and son-in-law went to a Heather Dale house concert, AND THEY DIDN'T call us.  We could have flown back to Ohio and gone with them.

I think that she will be in Phoenix sometime in the future, however.

For bands that I am interested in, I get their newsletters.  Some shows I get information from the newspaper entertainment section.

I just check the local concert ticket promoter's websites and for my top 10 bands I keep up on their tours via their websites.

I saw Amanda Palmer live the other night and hnngg... It was even better than I expected. She opened by sneaking in and started quietly playing Creep by Radiohead on ukulele and walked through the audience and it was fucking glorious. The way the hush came over everyone was so cool and her voice is magic in person. She was signing stuff afterwards and she signed my Theatre Is Evil CD to my name. Fantastic show and all the more impressive when she's currently, in her own words, "very pregnant".

The Beach Boys are coming to town this summer. Trying to decide if that would be worth seeing. I might get a chance to see Brian Wilson break his hip on stage.

As far as shows I'm actually excited about, Kacey Musgraves is doing a 4th of July fireworks concert.
