Another vote for BenRG on this matter.

Marten realizes he's got a keeper this time, possibly lifelong, and that changes your perspective on what is and isn't acceptable around your better half. He's grown and changed over nearly 3000 strips; it's about time is all I can say.  Then add to this the whole idea that Pintsize's mission really is almost over...   ?

I'm with Ben on this, too, and Snarkyone's assertion that this is something built versus accidental. He seems more invested in this relationship. I'm not sure that either of them are thinking lifelong, but Marten, at least, is a lot more focused in the here-and-now than we've seen him in a long time (possibly ever).

Mission over? Not sure about that. Yes, he's mentioned that his role in Marten's life is different than it was and that he can kick back a bit now. But what we've seen in-comic about AIs is that their existence isn't quite that utilitarian; they have inner lives, friendships, et cetera, so even if Marten doesn't "need" Pintsize the way he used to, they're still friends.

And now I'm thinking Star Trek, and wondering what Pintsize's next five-year mission will be...

People who swap "lose" and "loose" make me want to loose them into the wild so I can lose them.
For me it's the misuse of their and there, to mean they're that sets me off.  But I'm in a 12 step program now to help me curb these murderous rages against poor grammar.  I also no that mi grammer and speling is oftn lousey but that doesnt stop me from getting angri.

Ok Weird Al's "World Crimes" just came to mind on that one.
Anyone that is inspired to think of Al needs to do more than lurk....  :)  TY! (It's actually in my head all the time now when people use that)

The other day, I first heard the original version of that song... I had a hard time thinking of it as the "original" version and Weird Al's as the "cover."

You know, I'd be happy if people stopped using "are" when they mean "our".   That makes me want to gouge my eyes out with an olive fork.

Why do you want to do that? Gouge there eyes out instead.

Implying that the use of the incorrect word was deliberate, and keeping up with Jon Stewart's bit....  it makes sense.

Give this a watch, might fill in the gaps.

Marten's looming is rather reminiscent of http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=2002 and Momo looming over Pintsize in her new chassis before proceeding to bash him in the head repeatedly.  (The media seriously under-reports AI on AI violence)

Grr, you keep that up and there won't be enough of you left to do a DNA test.
Bad grammar and misspelling are some of my biggest pet peeves.
I was almost an English teacher. Didn't have the patience for it though.

I just started reading Questionable Content.  I started with the last few hundred strips and then went back to the beginning.  I still have about 1,000 strips to go.  I just got to the point where Dora moved in with Marten and Faye.

Uh oh. Things went downhill fast from that point, relationship wise... Hang on to your feels.

Well, I guess whatever Faye did to Pintsize (presumably Faye anyway) wasn't serious and he just needed to be turned on/rebooted. On the other hand... I've never seen Pintsize intimidated before.
But then, we've never seen Marten take the initiative or be decisive about a relationship before.  When it comes to Claire, at least, Marten the Wishywashy is no longer.

The way most if those are set up though, the girls all have a 'reason' to hang around the guy in the first place and frequently an even worse option waiting "back home" for them to come back and enter an arranged marriage or something so I always figured they really weren't all that attracted to the guy as a person, just to the relative safety and stability he represents…

I thought it was for cheap rent so long as Mr. Roper doesn't catch on.

You mean just like ever other human on the planet?

How dare you....   I mean you just suggested I was human like everyone else..    the horror... the... dignity... the equality.   I will tolerate this abuse much longer!!

(I realize now I forgot to add the  :clairedoge: face earlier to imply my sarcasm, this shall be my amends..)

Claire has only come out to Marten and Emily.  Of course all the main characters will be nothing less than accepting of Claire, because Jeph can't write a character whom doesn't reflect his own worldview without turning that character into a strawman.

Are you advocating Pintsize can't be the "dirty joke troll" just to serve as a morality pet about why you shouldn't be trans-phobic/offensive?

The term you're looking for is "loveable bigot," but that's not what I had in mind.  I was thinking more along the lines of "closed-minded but subtle."
