Dear Mr. Felgentreu,

today the media reported about a study conducted by the Bundestag titled "The search for extraterrestrial life and a realiziation of the UN resolution A/33/246 regarding the monitoring of unidentified flying objects and extraterrestrial life forms". I would like to ask you - as my local representative and a member of the Committees of Defence, Education, Science and Technological Impact Assessment - if you know of any way the Bundestag or any of its subsidiaries are dealing with the question if and when the Second Coming of Christ is to be expected, considering it's a topic of high interest to both internal and external affairs?

I am asking with the thought in mind that at least twelve of the states that Germany has diplomatic affiliations with have codified Christianity as the state religion. Two of them (Ireland and Greece) even explicitly make reference to the Holy Trinity in their constitution. Since the Christian doctrine predicts the Kingdom of Christ after the Second Coming, it is to be assumed that not only will the aforementioned states be converted into theocratic monarchies, but also that the free democratic basic order of the German Republic will be seriously put in danger by the world-spanning claim of said kingdom ("The nations will walk by its light", Revelations 21).

Do you know if there are preparations being made or discussed to protect our political and societal order for that case?

Dear Mr. Grannenfeld,

thank you for your fascinating query. I can state with clean conscience that the Bundestag will not deal with the Second Coming of Jesus Christ in the immediate future. Also I do not see any danger for free democratic basic order of the German Republic in the diplomatic relations with states that have codified Christianity as the state religion. Should the Second Coming of Christ take place in one of those states, he would possibly have diplomatic immunity in Germany as a foreign head of state, but could not derive any claims from that. As a citizen of the EU he might profit from freedom of movement for workers. There are no anti-constitutional notions to be expected from Jesus Christ (Romans 13:1).

Thus, I am currently personally more concerned over the world-spanning claims of the "Islamic State" in Syria and the Iraq than over the scenario you described.
