« on: 09 Apr 2015, 14:21 »

I went back several pages and couldn't find a discussion for Orange Is the New Black, so here it is.  Season 3 trailer now up:

I don't discuss OITNB because it reminds me too much of work.

Ack!  Haven't watched it yet!  Will probably start it tomorrow, but I'm not really a binge-watcher, so it'll take a couple of weeks.  Spoiler tags  :-)

I can hold back spoilers, no worries. Mostly the aahhh was because it was a good season.

Started it yesterday, now several episodes in.  Forget what I said about not-binge-watching, I'll have this done in under a week.

The only way to watch it.

Okay, just finished (I had to take about a week to steel myself to continue after reading the Netflix summary on Ep. 12), but

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

There are a lot of things I want to talk about, but I'm really considering going back through the whole thing.

Don't waste your time! It's not very good, I was really disappointed this season. I used to blog a lot about TV shows but haven’t done it in ages. Television blogging is something I used to be really into, but don’t bother with it so much nowadays. But I think I would like to get started again, I might get a WordPress blog with http://www.1and1.co.uk/wordpress-blogs
Let me know if anyone fancies getting on board.

I don't think it's a waste of time. I think it's definitely different from the other two seasons, but there are parts of this season that I really like and definitely think make it worth watching.

I thought (very) briefly that this might be about the new season's anime called Orange; I was wrong...

Just watched all four seasons and AAHHHH. It feels like Breaking Bad. Every time it gets as low as you think it could go, they stomp through ten floors to deeper awfulness. Really good watch.

I watched all of this recently and I have quite a few thoughts that I am now going to throw at the wall like shit and see if they stick.

I'm not hugely invested in the show itself, per se. I more like what it represents, which is an enormous number of well represented minorities and people you just otherwise don't see on TV.

I also like the way it refuses outright to cast a judgemental eye on its characters, especially the convicts, who are shown to mostly just be people who went through struggles. Some of them aren't even that, they're ones who clearly made their own beds but the show still doesn't judge them.

I feel like the fourth season was quite a bit weaker than the other ones though. I also felt the final episode was quite a non-starter and very heavy-handed.
