Apparently they are making a show off the movie...color me skeptical on it being good.  Don't get me wrong I loved the movie but a TV show?

I don't see why. The whole point was that 'Galaxy Quest' from the movie was a barely veiled poke at the original Star Trek.

With the TV series they can throw in a bunch of thinly veiled BSG and Firefly references too. I guess.

Not really hoping for much here, but maybe they'll surprise us all and make something good.

If it's set after the movies it could be good, but if it's before the]an there's no point cause:

Why? Star Trek, as it was satirised before, is going on 50 years old. Star Trek to anyone who now watches TV is that JJ Abrams film series.

I'm of two minds on this. With none of the original cast involved (at least from what we know so far), I don't have high hopes. On the other hand, if they do a "Next Generation"-ish update that's set after the movie, and keep the writing up to snuff, it could be decent.
