It turns out all of Deathmole's songs are about a poisoned sauce at a Mexican restaurant.

At 3000 the story transitions into a story about a group of dogs and their wacky misadventures.

The rest of the cast disappears besides Emily, their owner/walker/stalker. However she's never shown above her waist and when she talks it sounds like when adults talk in Peanuts. Possibly because the dogs don't know english, possibly because she just feels like talking like that.

Given that the Clinton-Emily conversation is going into next week, I'm going to put down my marker that Strip 3000 will focus in some way on them. Either Clinton will make a decision about them that will affect many characters or Emily will announced The Dark Truth about her origins and mysterious abilities.

What if Claire is hired as the Smith Librarian?  Would it stress her relationship with Marten if she became the one giving orders?  Would it be like one of those sitcom episodes where two characters see each other naked in an innocent mistake and suddenly the balance of power shifts?

It's always more injurious to the dominant character, because (s)he is brought down (if only slightly closer) to the submissive character's level.

This trope isn't as popular as it used to be.  These days characters can have a similar story by drunk dialing each other.

It'd be a subtle change. The dynamic of the relationship that makes Claire good for Marten is he's in the lead. But at the same time it's not like Marten isn't used to getting bossed around by women. So while it might hurt the relationship a bit, it's not like it'd lead to a explosion of drama.

For that reason I'm not sure if that's a good way to go about things, it doesn't really do a lot for the story. Claire will very likely get a job, but as for Marten answering to her I think the only interesting thing that might come out of it storywise is if he decided to move on professionally. Do the band thing. Maybe work at a music store. Start a webcomic.

I knew a couple who's dynamic switched between work and home (they worked at the same place).  One was boss at work, but the other was clearly in charge at home.  It doesn't have to be simple or obvious.

FWIW, I have long wondered if Marten may expand his blog about popular music into becoming a music journalist. It seems to be something that he's good at and genuinely likes.

Maybe Claire will find out that the students studying music at Smiff consider it to be their 'go to' for deconstruction of new releases and she realises that Marten has potentially a saleable commodity on his hands.

GarandMarine raised a superb point along those lines. Marten may get employee tuition benefits. He could pursue a graduate degree in music and begin teaching it. Professor Reed might only be adjunct faculty but he'd get more fulfillment than he does pushing carts around.

Considering Claire's view of managing a library has been established as it being 'SERIOUS BUSINESS', I can definitely see some conflict arising if she takes on a totalitarian management strategy, should she ever get the opportunity. I could certainly see that happening.

Don't know about Smif, but many real-world women-only college are more lenient on graduate admissions, often because the pool of applicants is much smaller.

While I did think Marten would pursue a career that involved teaching music, I expected something more along the lines of advertising guitar lessons on Craigslist.

I dunno, we just had Emily baring her weird soul to Clinton. I smell something tomorrow approximating the beginning of sonething more between them. Nothing conpared to the more wild, outlandish theories proposed in this thread, but a noteworthy advancement of the Emilton arc.
