More Momo! What do she and May do in the evenings when Dale and Marigold are... busy?

(I wonder if both movies are on Blu-Ray yet.)

I'm pretty sure nobody ever knew how to "adult". Ever.

Today's strip gave me some good feels. It's a nice positive way of thinking for Momo.

It was some Q&A somewhere, and my memory fails at exactly where.

In-comic, I can't remember a discussion of why robots need to sleep, but of course I'm not the grand master of archive fu here.

Seriously, worry about misunderstanding and conflict does seem to be a preoccupation for Momo. Yet, she's full of annoyance at human behaviour. Pintsize may joke about turning into a destructive kill-bot but I think that it's Momo who actually has to continually tell herself not to become one!

Still, she is an optimistic woman and I think that this keeps her strong. She's also got the support group and May to remind her that AIs aren't so perfect.

Couple of stray notes:

• In the past 29 strips, Faye has appeared once. This contrasts with the extremely Faye-centric strips that came before that. Meanwhile, Marten has appeared once in the past 9 strips. I think this may be some sort of record for the two main cast members being absent.

• In today's comic, Momo relaxes while watching the stars. May did the same thing here. Maybe they're not as different as Momo likes to think.

Yes, back to Faye, please! Although I really enjoyed the Momo arc. As for Marten: If he can appear without Claire, it is OK. But I think I have had enough of Claireten for a while.

Watching the stars is probably a common trait to both humans and AIs (provided you can see them, the light pollution is terrible these days). I would not put too high significance in Momo and May both watching the stars.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Edit: The Momo day felt like the set up to something, but most of the set up was known so I didn't get much out of it. Using it to contrast May's life, that we don't know as much about, is just perfect. Also, more May!

I like May. c:

So, I know a few of us have expressed a desire to see some of the cuteness toned down a bit, but "Prolapse Monthly" might be too far in the other direction! Hashtag, Be Careful What You Wish For.

In any event, I laughed, partly because of just how happy May looks in that last panel. While I'm keen to see the dangling plot threads picked up, I'm fine with the idea of a week of May internal monologues, too. There's a fair bit of humour to get out of the contrast with Momo, so I'm hoping it runs for a few strips.

I'm pretty sure Jeph has read The Player of Games, maybe that's why I can't help but get the feeling that she's a Mawhrin-Skel waiting to meet her Gurgeh.  If this were a different strip I'd hope to see her blossom into the air superiority fighter jet she really is inside, but I think she's going to have to learn to appreciate meatsacks.

It's not directly analogous, but at the time Mawhrin-Skel meets Gurgeh, he's been kicked out of Special Circumstances for being a fuck-up and lost most of his chassis's original capabilities.  He feels like an amputee and desperately wants to feel whole again.  May wants similar abilities beyond her current chassis, can't get them, and is generally considered a fuck-up.  If an opportunity arose to blackmail Hanners into uploading her into one of her mom's invisible planes, maybe she'd go for it.

Actually what I really want now is a spin-off where May forces Steve out of retirement and they go to work for the USDOKYA.

Never google prolapse, as a warning. I have actually seen them (two of our chickens have had them before), and they are -not- pretty.

Which makes me cringe even more at that particular magazine.

I suppose that this is Jeph's way of drawing a comedic contrast with Momo's suboptimal but content life. May just reminds us just how much worse life could be, especially in the field of front-line retail! At least we know why she was sticky that time - That slushie machine looks like it dreams of being Mount Vesuvius!

FWIW, I don't expect Jeph to continue this next week. He's just playing it for laughs.

So, is that May's fetish, or is she one of those people who get entertainment from laughing at atypical bodies?

Unfortunately I get the feeling that this is going to be a one strip day, it's Friday and it's during the day, not the start like in Momo 's arc.

That is, perhaps, the most earnest smile I've seen out of May... and it's from reading Prolapse Monthly.

I think that just solidifies my opinion that we could all use a little more May here and there.

Never google prolapse, as a warning. I have actually seen them (two of our chickens have had them before), and they are -not- pretty.

Which makes me cringe even more at that particular magazine.

"I only read it for the articles, I swear!"

Porn that centres on such an event actually exists.

Oh God, does it exist  :psyduck:

Normally I come on here to complain about something, but I am LOVING the anthro-PC perspective bits we're getting, as well as the lighthearted break from the depressing stuff.

Well I dont know, BUT these are for (a) underage boys and (b) old men. The first group probably is gone as customers now, but the second group probably still hasnt figured out the internet. At least in part.
