Now A Major Motion Picture - The Webcomic!
« on: 30 May 2015, 04:59 »

Filked from another forum:

What webcomics out there do you think would make for a good movie - stand alone or franchise - and why?

Start with the obvious: I'm not 100% sure that QC would make for a good movie, but if you can maybe gloss over a lot of the little day-by-day punchline attempts, it might work.

There's already one I know of that has been made into two movies, though they're not exactly "major motion pictures."

Well, I'd guess most web comics, by nature, would fit more as series than movies. A lot of them would probably feel more natural as anime, because of the rather drastic mix of silly humor and drama many webcomics employ.

Other than that, I'm sure Stand Still, Stay Silent could make for some pretty good movies! An animated show off of Gunnerkrigg Court would be pretty awesome as well, but only as long as the production quality is high enough to do justice to the awesome art style of the comic.

Agreed.

A fair few of the ones I read would be better in Animated/Anime style.  Most of Bleedmans Comics are based of old Cartoon Series - PPG Donjinshi and Grimm Tales come to mind on that score - though I think some would do well translating to Live Action as well.

I'm not sure about movies, but the Scary Go Round/Bad Machinery comics would make some great TV series
