Mine is currently Matador.  I listen to most of the stuff they put out and usually like it.  I mean, they have Interpol. Belle & Sebastian, Cat Power, Mogwai, Richard Hell, Guided By Voices, Arab Strap, Yo La Tengo, etc.

What's yours?

If they have Interpol then I'd also say Matador.  When it comes to labels however, I generally don't care.  It rarely matters to me (if ever) what label a band is signed to.

We're not sayin we like a label just because a band we like happens to be on it, we're saying we like a certain label due to it having multiple bands of similar styling that we like on it.

For instance, I dig Hydra Head due to the presence of Pelican, Isis, and These Arms are Snakes. Or Asian Man for the great amount of Ska on that label.

For independent labels:

Also, Black Mark (Edge of Sanity, Bathory, Lothlorien, Tad Morose, Morgana LaFey) and Spinefarm/Spikefarm (Finntroll, Children of Bodom, Darkwoods My Betrothed, Kalmah, Nightwish (Though Nuclear Blast carries foreign distribution nowadays)). Osmose in the old days but they've gone downhill (lost Marduk and Immortal, etc.)

Also, the big boys of metal, Nuclear Blast and Century Media, but I doubt they really count as independent anymore (Certainly I can't imagine anyone who sells branded Dimmu Borgir pyjamas to be indie).

Roadrunner does actually have a few decent bands on it, but they certainly aren't the ones they sell to the public (I'm thinking of Illdisposed, 3 Inches of Blood, etc.)

Sometimes I pay attention to labels, and sometimes I don't... there are some labels where you can be pretty sure that anything they put out is worth listening to:
Drive-in
Little Shirley Beans
Sarah
Southern
Shelflife
Matinée
Rough Trade
Gern Blandsten

Saddle Creek!
And by default, Team Love...

If only for comedy incestiousness and the fact that a member of each band has to shag conor oberst to get signed...*

I also like Fierce Panda, even though the best bands on the label have since left - they've just got this 'we love all our bands and won't ever be a big label because we shoot ourselves in the foot when it comes to business but we don't mind' attitude and send out little e-mails which purport to be from dancing flamingos and the like.

* I don't know this for a fact.

yeah, 4AD still exists as a subsidiary of Beggars Banquet. Most of their output seems to consist or records by the Mountain Goats and solo records by members of Slowdive (Not a bad thing). Despite taking part in the shoegazer movement the lables signature sound died with the 80s and things went down hill from there in my opinion.

Respect has always got to be due to Rough Trade, certainly early stuff, before internal politics and stuff, really helped to show indie music was viable. Shmat are doing quite nice stuff at the moment and I'm think Creation/Poptones have to get a certain level of applause just because whether you like him or hate him Alan McGee has probably done more than you realise to influence the music scene at the moment, and of course Factory Records, See Alan McGee for Tony Wilson.

Hm.. I don't always pay attention to labels I've noticed... I go by recommendations / newsletters for albums thus it isn't from one label.

I do enjoy / used to enjoy a good number of bands from (off the top of my head):
Morr Music (they have a good site which I mentioned elsewhere; fastest loading media site I've ever visited with lovely streams of most the albums they sell)
Warp
Matador
Acuarela (well, okay, okay, I just own one band's album from there, but own a compilation with various bands I like making songs about water / including the word water which is top notch)
Constellation (gaaah!  for packaging alone!)
Fat Cat (it's how I discovered Sigur Rós initially)
Saddle Creek (this is a used to; I got a bit tired of Bright Eyes and haven't went there to check them out in awhile.. I actually purchased tshirts from their store which hadn't happened for other label's sites.. in fact, the only other label I actually purchased directly from their site was Fat Cat since I was desperate for Múm's limited edition book version and amazon UK screwed it up)

Rough Trade, 4AD, Domino (which I am surprised has not been mentioned), Sub Pop, and, most of all, Matador. I got the Matador At 15 compilation for Christmas, and it puts out the awesome like nobody's business.

I can't believe I forgot Domino... it's great. Matador is just default awesomeness, but my favorite label comp is Old Enough 2 Know Better: 15 Years of Merge Records, followed by my Beggar's Group Spring Sampler, which has XL, 4AD, Too Pure and Beggars Banquet.

But K is still my favorite. <3

Jade Tree! Yeah! I'm surprised no-one had mentioned it yet.

Parlophone (although a sub-division of EMI) have Blur, Radiohead, Idlewild and some other awesome bands I can't remember

Rough Trade... I only like two bands on Rough Trade and they're both called The S____s. Coincidence?

Island are pretty good, for a major

Others I like: Kung-fu, Asian Man, Household Name
