So this Undertale thing
« on: 14 Oct 2015, 22:54 »

It's hard for me to try to introduce Undertale without thinking of all the "you may have heard..." jokes back when Michael Jackson died.

It's doubly hard because I know the tendency of the fans (after only a month) to cry "spoiler!" at almost anything.

So... briefly held the top spot on Metacritic.  Now holds a measly 94%, the same as such pitiful titles as Command and Conquer and Skyrim.  You are a genderless human child in a world of monsters, and your goal is not to kill anyone.  There is a talking flower.  Made by the chief music guy from Homestuck.  And that's all I have to say about that.

PC.  Search it out on Steam.

(EDIT: If you haven't heard of it at this point, there's a good chance you haven't heard of Steam, so go here.)

(EDIT x2: Also Mac)

If you haven't played Undertale you should definitely play Undertale and you should play it AT LEAST ONCE without reading ANYTHING about it online, I think.

I've seen plenty of people's playthroughs ruined because of people telling them the "best way" to play.

I'm in love with this game, so much.

It is one of those games where talking about it before someone plays it does ruin the fun. I got to go into it blind and I'd hate to rob someone else of that experience.

Play it, it's so much fun. I'm currently on my second playthrough.

I'm on my third playthrough but I don't think I'm going to be able to finish it due to difficulty; the bullet hell stuff really isn't my strong suit and the type of playthrough I'm doing means my poor skills in that area are holding me back at this point. Kind of a shame. Might restart to try some of the easter egg stuff people have found though.

I was gonna do a regular run, but the mechanic is so much fun I decided to try my hand at that instead. Maybe next run through I'll play it like a regular RPG

This thread filled me with determination so I went back and triumphed over the boss I was stuck on. Now I'm at what I think is the last boss (penultimate at least) and good heavens I'm having a bad time.

Okay so tonight I think I more or less 'finished' the game. I succeeded in the run where I was having A Bad Time yesterday and decided to do one more run through to check out a couple of other things. All in all I've put 31 hours into it which I'm super happy with, and I can see myself going back to it for sure once it's left my mind a little.

Smiling sunflowers greet visitors in Tokyo
These cartoonish sunflowers have brightened the field in Tokyo, as well as many visitors, after workers created a smiling expression on them by removing pistils on their surface. According to metro.co.uk, among the nearly 20,000 sunflowers in the field, there are only a few that are able to smile. Can you spot them all?
I do not trust this flower.

I absolutely love being part of a current and active fandom. One of my favourite artists is making loads of fanart mainly featuring Sans and Papyrus.

I love the amazing fanart that has been done for this game. Spoilers for end of game. Pacifist run specifically.

By the way, I still haven't finished the Genocide run. I try it once in a while but I'm having a Bad Time.

There are so many amazing remixes of both games' already great soundtracks!

I'm surprised nobody has brought this up yet.
