Holy shit guys, I read this a decade ago and it's still one of only two series I've read from beginning to end (the other being Ex Machina). Anyone else excited about this?

Interesting that both protagonists powers are in their voice.

I just saw the premiere.  I haven't read the comic in so long that my memory is a bit hazy, so I'm less inclined to nit-pick at the differences.  I did quite enjoy it, as both the pacing and casting were spot-on.

Agreed, it's been over a decade since I read it. Liked the pilot, interested to see where it goes. Have they still not cast the Saint yet?

According to wikipedia, they have.  Also interesting on how much of the cast is British.

Finally watched it last night and it was ok. It didn't wow me or anything but it wasn't bad. So far it seems like they are straying away from the story in the comic, which is both good and bad. That said, I still don't like that Seth Rogan is involved with this, and having to watch that awful commercial for that new movie he's making really dragged it down for me.

A 1:1 translation wouldn't work anyhow.  Especially on basic cable.  Especially in the US.  Between the over the top violence, the sex, and Ennis' take on religion, it'd be a hard-sell.  I am trying at this moment to be cautiously optimistic, and the casting *has* really made me feel better about the series' potential.

I do quite agree with the erm "issues" you have with Seth Rogan.  But I'm going to see the first 10 eps at least through, and see what happens.  Even if I start torrenting them later on just to say a "screw you" to the whole idea.

What are the issues re: Seth Rogan?

Anyone watching season two? Also, I still have no idea why hedgie and BK dislike Seth Rogen.

Another new (old) thread!

I loved the TPBs of Preacher.

I thought the first series was alright, a few wrinkles concerning story and characters, but that was kinda to be expected.
I've not seen any of the 2nd series yet... but I'd LOVE it if they include the Bill Hicks vignette at some point!

Series two is much stronger so far. I’d give it a watch.
