"We will not look at your butt, sorry"

Which is a blatant lie.
Don't make promises uou can't keep, Dora. (Strip also shows the old price list. Maybe Dora has raised her prices and the old list is away being rewritten?)

I didn't have any trouble recognising Dora.  Didn't really think about her hair reflecting a time skip.

Hmmm, does "Bleminda" look like she's related to Claire, or to Marigold?

Winner!

On a different topic, does anyone else think it's odd to offer tea leaves to an espresso machine? Maybe cocoa beans or something...

Yes, I realise that it's already quite odd enough without fixating on the tea leaves...  :clairedoge:

If this is really a time skip, then Bleminda has returned for more Emily sass. If this is really Emily.

Belminda likes getting sassed.

Next strip we find out that her full name is Bleminda McPhee.  :-D

Y'know, other then Dora I really hope there's another character who's hairs grown out, that one being Hanners. I always liked her long hair better then the short she's had all this time. Miss it.

Also. Oh shit! I completely forgot Bleminda actually appeared several strips ago! That proves she's gonna be a main character! No one appears more then once unless they're on their way to main status. Angus started that way. And May.

Also, she got those ear piercings I've always found weird as anything.

I have nothing against them, just, if you stop wearing them are your earlobs stuck all stretched out or something? Cause like.

When I was in college, someone made "snoot boots" which were knitted nose-shaped things which covered your nose to keep it warm, and it had ties which went over your ears and tied at the back of your head.  I bought one, and it worked pretty well, although it was EXTREMELY dorky looking.

EXTRA POOFY, cute.

Glasses, cute.

Sweater and looking like a librarian(Even if that's not what she's doing at the moment), cute.

Plugs. Nooooo!

Overall a win though.

It's actually thirty-ish years, I think but I haven't had to wear anything thicker than a light sweater since mega-drought kicked in and my face no longer gets dried out by crazy winds during rain/snowstorms.

How long of a timejump is this? Even before weather seemed to get irreversibly one-note it only ever really got cold out here around November and we were just finishing up Summer before break.

There's probably some kind of market for plastic surgeons who can fix the stretching from large-plug-wearers who decide they don't want them anymore. I imagine it would entail cutting out a section of the stretched lobe and stitching it back together. I imagine there's a point where there's no shrinking back once you stretch that lobe out so far.

What is tumblr-nose?

Tumblr-nose is the inexplicable tendency for artists on there to color their cartoon-people's noses a distinctly different color from the rest of their face, usually a red or much darker skin tone. Looks kinda silly, imo.

When I read about winter temperatures in the northern USA I shudder. I would be a little ball of polar gear (including a face-mask) as I rode to work on my tauntaun. Actually I commute on a bicycle (much less smelly, but you can't cut it open and stuff a friend inside), and while there are solutions to cycling in freezing weather, I'm glad I don't have to.

What is the temperature inside a tauntaun?

Okay, so in response to jheartney's question, here are my guesses (and I emphasise 'guess'):
  • Marten and Claire are still together; Claire is having a hard time with this being her last year of her Master's degree in Library Sciences but things are slowly happening; they're both currently angsting about whether Claire should move into the apartment; Mrs Augustus is very keen for this to happen;
  • Dora and Tai are continuing to become less like college girlfriends and more like a long-term adult couple. Tai has ended her lease on her digs, feeling confident enough in herself and Dora to move into Dora's apartment in Amhurst;
  • Faye, as part of her attempts to help Bubbles, has been getting into the AIs' cultural scene and finding it surprisingly similar to its human counterpart in most ways. Bubbles is continually annoyed by other Synthetics ragging her about being a 'Squishy Socket Jack'; she continually refuses to explain to Faye what that means, growling about 'obscenities';
  • A 'musical chairs' room-swap involving Marigold, Momo, Dale and May appears to be in the offing; May has, with her usual charm, actually approached Bubbles over this as she and Momo would be better able to afford the lease on Marigold and Angus's old place if they had a third roomie;
  • Clinton and Emily seem to be quite happy to be in a 'very best friends' relationship, although whether Emily would like to push things further is up for debate; Clinton is having a hard time interpreting her very affectionate behaviour; Claire is pushing him to 'make the next move' but he's more-or-less happy how things are;
  • As we saw in today's strip, Emily has settled in well at CoD and has developed her own celebrity status as the 'Weird Nickname Girl';
  • Jim has proposed to Veronica; she has asked for time; whilst she'd like to stay with him, the wounds of the failure of her first marriage run deep;
  • Hannelore is still her usual self; she's still seeing Sven regularly and Dora is still worried that either Hanners or Sven may hurt the other unintentionally;
  • Pintsize and Winslow have been secretive about something but Faye has seen Pintsize hanging out at the Fighting Arena and has seen him talking to Corpse Witch.
I was looking for a ring on Claire's hand in today's strip, but they're showing the right hand, not the left, so there's no way to tell if she has one. Probably a bit fast to have them getting hitched, I suppose, though they've been giving off married couple vibes in some strips ("Salmon don't live in lakes, dear"). And some couples just jump into it once they've connected.

Speaking of which, Veronica and Jim; I don't see her necessarily wanting to wait longer than him. She's been married before, it's not mysterious, and waiting a year when you already have your mind made up would be a waste of  not-unlimited time (something you get more aware of in your fifties). Wouldn't be surprised if they just went down to the courthouse and got it done some afternoon. OTOH they may not care much about the whole "getting married" thing, as both are financially independent and have been down the aisle before. But if they don't bother, they may regret it if/when they get one of those surprise-hospitalizations that fifty and sixty-somethings are prone to, and their partnership has no official status, leaving neither empowered to participate in family healthcare decisions.

Here in Michigan, our winter's been extremely mild so far, actually - we've barely dipped below 32F all winter. Which, when you compare it to last year and the year before's -10F and sometimes, -20Fs, is a nice change.

Hell, we had near-70F weather in late November. Craziness.

Dora's hair must grow extremely fast, then. My grows faster than average and it would take me about six months to grow it that long.

Why do people live outside of California? Honestly.

What, just because it's currently 9°F here in Massachusetts? (That's -13°C, for those of you used to a rational temperature scale.) No big deal. Could be worse. Could be snowing.

Looks like we went from late September/early October to some time in January or February, at a guess. Probably early January since Claire is still complaining about how cold it is - later than that we kind of get used to it and stop talking about it unless there's a really extreme arctic blast.

We've definitely skipped ahead long enough to miss some fairly big events. None of them had to be shown unless there was some particular drama. Like others, I'm hoping that we didn't miss any cute declarations, though! FWIW, I'm sticking with three to six months, making the current strips no later than January or February, based on the Massachusetts winter clothing.

Has Claire moved in with Marten? Maybe; if she has, I'll expect Jeph to specifically say so at some point soon.

She's definitely been made a TA, though, which confirms, in my view, that she's in final year. I wonder how she feels about all the undergraduate students who are doing Bachelor of Library Sciences as an 'easy, no work' degree to let themselves slack off at college?

For the record, I, personally, am repulsed by those ear-stretching things.

I really hope those aren't plugs. I'll get over it of course, but christ there is no uglier body modification.

When I stated temperatures here, I was stating daytime temps. It's currently 2F here right now.

Someone call AprilArcus! We have confirmation of a MAJOR TIME SKIP!!!

Also, Cute Claire is Cute.

It certainly puts an end to the For-god's-sake-what-day-is-it-NOW?! aneurysm and starts a whole new what-the-hell-month-is-this conundrum instead.
Well it's certainly winter. So that narrows it down a lot compared to our, when in the hell is it at all from before.

Maybe the mention of Rudolph in today's title hints at it being Christmas? *shrug*

Here in Michigan, our winter's been extremely mild so far, actually - we've barely dipped below 32F all winter. Which, when you compare it to last year and the year before's -10F and sometimes, -20Fs, is a nice change.

For starters, OH MY GOD YOU'RE A MICHIGANDER?

For second, I was visiting my cousins in October in that region, and it was somewhere in the low forties, so, while I'm aware that's nothing to you people (I'd include my mother, but she's adjusted to southern climes), where I live at the moment, it's only now Winter that it's gotten so cold. It's cold, is what I'm saying, even though you are accustomed to much colder, which I'm aware of, seeing as I visited two Christmases ago. Dat -20, doe.

Also,
My grows faster than average and it would take me about six months to grow it that long.

I've got hair that's on the edge of being long, and in a month I expect it to be long enough that, on-stage, at least, I look like a basically-homeless teenager. Dora's not that far out-of range, at least not via my range.

... tumblr-nose?

I know nothing of such frogs, and apparently neither does google.

IT'S AN ADDICTION, PEOPLE!  If you don't stop after a few basic piercings, you never will!
WTF how does that guy even SHAVE ?!?!

Why do people live outside of California? Honestly.
You quite massively misspelled Canada there.

What is tumblr-nose?
Word.

And once again Jeph has activated his TARDIS and skipped ahead.
TARDIS ? WANNA HAVE WANNA HAVE WANNA HAVE !!! I'd immediately travel to the 1970s and marry Katy Manning (FYI thats doctor companion Jo Grant). ;-)

It's 70ºF (21ºC) here in Hawaii and I had to close all my windows because I'm freezing my butt off.
I feel most comfortable around 18C. 10C is still okay.
