"LP videos."

Cannot compute...
Vinyl *is* making a comeback.  It is entirely possible that some people enjoy videos of someone putting their LPs on a turntable and playing them.
I've definitely seen this. This exists.
The irony of listening to an analog recording in a digital medium because you like the sound of analog.

For audiophiles, it never left.

*am currently enjoying the improved quality from my turntable, thanks to a new cork mat and new stylus*

Doubtful. I've seen videos get muted just for having copyrighted music playing incidentally in the background.

I can't see wearing a scarf over your face, but not wearing a hat. But then Poofy Hair is probably super insulated.

Hats are not friendly to poofy hair, especially snug knit winter caps. Sometimes one must suffer (a cold scalp) for beauty.

They are not friendly to mohawks, either. This is a dilemma. Thankfully I plan to move to warmer climes soon.

They'll mess up the styling and dry out your hair really badly. :(

Being a child of the VHS era, I have no personal experience with these, but is it possible that those analog video storage devices that were quite similar in format to a vinyl LP (i.e. Video Disc resp. Laser Disc) were sometimes colloquially called "Video LPs", "LP videos" or such?

One reason I could never picture myself making LP videos it's the fear that everyone would comment on how horrible I am at the game.

Do you remember you could record a VHS in LP mode and fit many more hours on a single tape at reduced quality?

I first though Sam grew a bit, but it seems she remained the same size looking back. Also I wonder if playing videogames levels your sneaking skill in real life as well, or just that you automatically start doing it in real life. That happens to me sometimes, once I stood next to someone in a group slightly to the back for a long time without her noticing me...

Cycling helmets are compulsory in Australia, so it is necessary to suit the hairstyle to the helmet rather than vice-versa. My hair is naturally straight, though, which makes life easier.

Yesterday's copyright notice was like that too. The one from Monday still said 2015.

By the actual year 20016 we might have gotten through another couple of decades of comic time.

It's been about two years or so in the past 13, so if we make the comic run so far 26 months then that's a 1 comic year to 6 real years ratio, which really isn't that slow (although admittedly that's largely due to a few time jumps).

Yes, indeed. It's... ah... a bit controversial.

I'll just add that there is currently a plan to bring in legislation that makes it compulsory for all riders in NSW to carry ID when riding, and to massively increase bike rider fines.

This isn't the place to go into depth, but it wouldn't be an overstatement to observe that, in Sydney at least, there has been an ongoing culture war around cyclists. If that sounds silly, well - yes, I'd agree. There is a lot of ill will between cyclists and drivers right now. I don't feel safe riding on Sydney roads, to be honest.

I wonder how Jeph plans to tackle the whole Let's Play thing. I don't suppose he'll model Samantha's LP videos after some established LPer's already out there, but I feel that direction would be more realistic given that it's what any aspiring Let's Player starts out doing.

Following that, who would Samantha's influences be for making Let's Plays? It would give her a framework for how she makes her videos. I personally hope she doesn't base them on PewDiePie and/or Markiplier (although I like Mark). Maybe a Seananners-type LP would be a good start, since his videos revolves around being silly in video games with friends, and doesn't require over-exaggerating reactions. If it's more like Game Grumps/Two Best Friends, I hope Marigold and Momo join and become an awesome Let's Play group.

It'd be hilarious if she's more like Cr1tiKal, though, especially since he's been expanding his horizons lately.

What's saddening, actually, is that I don't know of many well-established women Let's Players for Samantha to possibly be influenced by. Yogscast Hannah, KittyKatGaming, and Tina Dayton (who's more of a Twitch streamer) are three I know off-hand, but that's three out of the several hundreds of male-run Let's Play channels. Maybe Samantha will lead a revolution of women LPers; gods know we need one. There's just too much of the same out there, and the lack of diversity in the gaming community overall needs to change, really.

I suddenly realized what is happening here: Marigold has always wanted to have her own YouTube empire but has lacked the confidence in her voice and diction to do so. All these questions she's asking Sam are, of course, questions that she's asked herself as she's drawn up her own plans, which are currently hidden from everyone out of fear that they might actually force her to go through with it!

Will she end up trying to live vicariously through Sam's simpler and more innocent ambitions? Or will Sam's greater self-confidence just make her feel worthless and weak (again)?

I am getting this crazy vision of Marigold and Veronica leaping in and taking over Sam's attempt to play video games on camera, trying to turn it into a huge internet geeky empire.

Or Veronica taking on poor, shy Marigold as a new personal project! Dale might not know what's rolling down the hill towards him until he sees the result of the makeover!

I hope that isn't the case. Hopefully she joins in and shares the limelight instead. It wouldn't be right to do it vicariously through a kid. I can't see anything but failure there.

Really? Even for adults?
For all riders, in all States and Territories.

I was under the impression that there were religious exemptions to those laws (for religious headgear requirements such as Muslim and Sikh requirements), so one could identify as Pastafarian to wear a colander in place of a helmet to protest the law...

I wonder if Marigold herself has a Patreon account and makes LP videos. Defending her Dad's shoe-shop website from the Red Chinese can't keep her that busy.

It's the same over here in NZ tool

At least Marigold knows what she is and is comfortable with the label.

I will never understand watching someone else play a game for hours on end instead of actually playing it yourself.  My 11 year old son will watch Minecraft videos forever if I'd let him.  I guess I'm getting old.

Then again, back in my day if you wanted to know ho to get through a difficult part of a game you had to spend hundreds of your parents dollars on a 1-900 line or have a subscription to Nintendo Power. :psyduck:

Because some games might be interesting enough to watch but not interesting enough to shell out the cash for, I'm guessing.

The huge SIGH suggests that she might not be completely comfortable with it.
