Things are not looking bright for good music, first Lemmy hands in the towel, and now Bowie. I'll miss you guys.

He had a long, full, wonderful life... but nobody gets out if it alive. He died at peace, with family and friends after shining so brightly, for so many years. In the end, can anyone hope for any more?

He will be missed, truly. I have a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. But he will never really leave us. Never be forgotten. His music, his soul will remain behind for us.

His music and life had such an impact on me as a teen and early adult, and still fills me with emotion. He was truly, a star... and now he has gone back to the other stars. Fare well on the next part of your journey, David. And thank you.

An unusual tribute from St Alban's Cathedral:

The last days were strange...
Friday I bought Blackstar and listened to it the whole weekend. I couldnīt quite make sense of it, but itīs a Bowie album, so Iīm used to that. But I liked it a lot because it reminds me of my favourite album: Outside from 1995.

Then suddenly on Monday morning (here in Germany): boom!

And suddenly the album makes terrifying much sense to me.

I knew Bowie since my musical awakening in the mid 80īs. But I liked the 70īs stuff much better than his 80īs and 90īs music until Outside and Earthling came. I saw him life in 1997 at the Bizarre Festival in Lübeck when he played together with The Prodigy. A lasting experience.  8-)

His music may have been better or worse over the decades. But he nerver stood still, he never really cared if his work was popular or succesful. He always did his thing. And thatīs what I liked about him, thatīs why he influenced me.

Thank you for the music, Mr. Bowie.
(And I hope you donīt mind the ABBA-reference.)

Freddie Mercury, Lou Reed, David Bowie. Three of my musical heroes from my days of youth gone. Iīm getting old. Whoīs left? Tom Waits, Ian Anderson, Van Morrison, Supertramp.  Theyīre not getting younger either.

Keep calm. Van Morrison is like Randy: he is eternal.
