Four to six months, my friends. Four to six
months and Faye
still hasn't gone to make her peace with Dora. I think that, if we ever had any doubt the degree to which being fired from CoD broke Faye's spirit, this should dispel it. Even now, she's terrified of facing the consequences of what she regards to be her worst personal failure. So terrified that she needs her best friend to come with her to hold her hand.
I'm thinking that Jeph is working towards a long set-piece, starting next week, with everyone at CoD and we learn, by their conversations and interactions, just what has been going on in their lives in the last half-year.
Suggestions:
- Claire has moved into Marten's apartment; Marten may be considering proposing to her;
- Marriage certificate aside, most people think of Claire as 'The Younger Mrs Reed' to the point where Clinton rather resents Veronica's increased influence over her;
- Faye and Bubbles spend a lot of time, off-duty, hanging out; they've become best friends without ever knowing it;
- Dora and Tai have become... sugary in their domesticity;
- No-one knows what is going on between Emily and Clinton, least of all Emily and Clinton (and they prefer it that way);
- Hannelore has developed a strong relationship (not romantic but very emotionally intimate) with someone and is currently drifting down DeRiver Denial about it;
- Penny has so perfectly fitted into the role of 'Deputy Manager' that she's seemed to have always had it; in many ways, she's more in charge of CoD than Dora; Dora occasionally feels insecure about this but Tai keeps her grounded on the subject.
I am hoping, hoping, hoping that Bubbles has an old army great-coat that still has her old unit badge on the shoulders. Maybe it also has a distinct lighter area where her 'fruit salad' of awards for valour were.
