You sound surprised.
He doesn't seem the type, but that's down to different cultural standards, I guess. I wouldn't drink from a stubbie or can because I'm not a bogan. :-D

Aren't judgmental social norms funny?

Yes.

That level of recall is a bit freaky.

I had to look up which strip it was. Back then, ohnorobot.com was accepted transcripts of the strips, so the early ones are searchable.

Are.those knee.patches on Sam's.jeans? Do young'uns even  patch holes in jeans any more? I thought the big thing was to have them look as though they were laundered.in a cement mixer.
Perhaps they are red tights under ripped jeans?

A possibikity, but Sam doesn't strike me as the give-a-****-about-teen-fashion sort. Throw on the t-shirt and jeans and you're ready for a day of hunting frogs, or froglords, or swords. Unless there's school. Stupid school!

Mahatma Ghandi is sort of famous for his reply when he was asked what he thought of western civilization.

He said he thought that it would be a very good idea.

I've worn T-shirts and jeans to school and drunk from cans, sometimes on the same day. But lately, I like to stick my pinky out when I drink from red plastic cups, just to let people know I'm, y'know, quality.

I always drink from a glass.  I tend to go for draught beers, and if I were to drink whisky from a bottle methinks people would get the idea that I was a total lush for some reason.

There was a coding error in the original Civ that made Gandhi the most aggressive leader as soon as the Indians switched to Democracy. So it wasn't at all uncommon to see him tote his nukes.

If I recall correctly, democracy meant -2 to agression, but the program didn't allow for negative numbers. Gandhi was set by default at 0 aggression, so in his case, subtracting two set his aggression to 255 out of a possible 10. Hence, nuclear Gandhi.

Is this the first time that we've seen Faye coming home seriously exhausted, emotionally as well as physically, after a day at work? I'm thinking that, after the relatively easy life at Coffee of Doom
Hmm, have you ever worked in the business? Relatively easy life is *not* how I would describe my days in the often frantic catering business. IT support is relaxing by comparison (well apart from when things go really badly wrong and 6,000 people are waiting for you to get a fix working).
