Can't blame Clinton for getting annoyed by all this.  He's gradually learned not to be creepy and now he's being encouraged to do something that will undoubtedly get Renee's red flags waving.

In this case at least, Clinton can't get mad at Claire because he knows she's ultimately right. Sometimes you just have to make sure loose ends are tied off because, frankly, not doing so will torment you. Besides, I doubt that Brun will be that far away! His reaction in panel 2 proves that he desperately does want to talk to her again.

I'm pretty sure that this is the point. I'm starting to expect a devastating dry Brun exposition where she explains to Renee that she's actually doing all the things that she's accusing Clinton of doing.

Two things.
FFS Claire, stop manipulating and controlling your brother.
Secondly, the ear mod things look ridiculous in her.

Having looked at Google Maps, I can see why Clinton doesn't want to sprint down Pleasant Street; it is a long road (actually Massachusetts Route 5) that, after a brief trip through the woods, pretty much carries on into the main street of Holyoke!

So, does this confirm CoD is on Pleasant Street? Someone ought to update the Wiki!

I keep having to wonder why she's drawn with tissue paper up her nose before I remember it's actually metal, and wincing reflexively. You'd think I'd just remember by now but, no, I have to go through this little realization ritual every day. I still can't adjust to it.

Remember Claire dreaming about being a cyberpunk librarian when she and Marten were discussing aesthetic electronic implants? I strongly suspect that, if being a librarian didn't sort of require a conservative dress code, she'd follow the gothic-style punk aesthetic. Oddly enough, I suspect that Marten would be very, very cool with that. Faye, of course, would call her 'Spooky Junior', something about which Dora would have mixed feelings!

That's what concerns me.  So far Clinton has maintained a safe distance and gave Brun her space when requested.  He's done the right thing and I really don't want him to get smacked down by Renee or Elliot if she convinces him that he's a stalker.

I thought she had accused Clinton of trying to take advantage of Brun or wanting to hurt her? Because while suffocating Renee hasn't hurt Brun or tried to exploit her. She's just been bossy and given her fresh pastries.

Clinton detaches his hand and sets it off in hunting mode. He runs down the street behind it, screaming at his 'escaped' hand. Nothing creepy there. Uhm, sort off.

I take it that you've never had long hair.

To elaborate: it's only something people with long hair really worry about, because hair that's broken doesn't 'cut' off neatly, but splits apart at the ends and gives the whole thing a frizzy, unhealthy look. Once the end is split, the rest will split easier, which is why even people who want to grow their hair out should cut the ends every month or two. There's a whole science to preserving, strengthening and protecting hair, and it's necessary because long hair is relatively old; Claire's for example might be four years or older.  It's also under more stress, because you have to brush it and tie it together and blow dry it.

Length that makes breakage noticeable than amount of hair, because I can see my breakage and split ends all the time. The ends are where it's most obvious usually.

(click to show/hide)

In the before you can see lots more flyaways and different lengths and almost like little white spots on the hair, that's where there's breaks in the hair.

I would say the percentage is a bit lower than that. Some things are fairly objectively creepy and some things are romantic even if you don't feel romantically inclined toward the person. i will grant that how you feel about the person does have a pretty strong influence on how you interpret their behavior, though.

Clinton detaches his hand and sets it off in hunting mode. He runs down the street behind it, screaming at his 'escaped' hand....

Which then ends up jumping on Renee's boob. Hilarity Ensues, especially when she finds out he's that Clinton. The boy may be lucky to escape with his life.

In any case, you know this is somehow going to end up with Renee and Clinton running into each other, most likely shortly after he catches up with Brun. And yes, Renee is quite likely to accuse him of being a creepy stalker, quite loudly and vehemently. I can see Clinton being cowed enough by the accusation to slink away, trying to avoid further confrontation with Brun's overprotective friend. Whether anything further develops with Brun will then depend on if Brun stands up for him.

I so like the "cinematic" way Jeph moves the "camera" in the current strip.

Very roughly (because it varies with genetics, diet etc.) hair grows at 150mm per year, and apart from staying generally healthy there's nothing much you can do about that, so as Swapna points out, long hair is old hair. The important thing is treating your hair well, so that you retain it.

Thoughts on today's comic:

1. The only business name shown is "Sexytowne." Adult accessories? Soft core paperbacks? Swimwear?
2. Why are there no AI's on the street? There's apparently enough AI's in town to support the fighting rink, but the only ones we've ever seen out and about are in the cast.
3. The curling group made we wonder: are there AI sports teams? Maybe they could make some money on a legal competitive sport. And if AI's have full civil rights, could they participate in the Olympics? Maybe not head-to-head with humans, but in a separate AI division?

Look on the bright side, Clinton, you've run into a group of pretty lady athletes who are all clearly hyped up and happy to be on their way! At least you can admit to have seen something genuinely nice and uplifting today!

Meanwhile, you need to talk to Claire about how it's possible that you've somehow had Marten's old-style bad luck transferred to you. Is there really a Law of Conservation of Murphy in this strip and Clinton is the balance for Marten's relationship good fortune? I mean, seriously, what are the odds that you'd run into the one person in Northampton who would look like Brun from that angle? :-P

1. The only business name shown is "Sexytowne." Adult accessories? Soft core paperbacks? Swimwear?

I seem to remember Sexy Towne was opposite the now-destroyed Bar where Brun worked. Clinton may be closer to her than he knows; sheer habit may have brought her to this spot.

It's hardly creepy to try to catch up to someone you know to say hi.
But someone who, as far as you know, has the ability to contact you but has chosen not to?

Do you have the stones for it?
Oh, we're going to start with curling puns now, eh? Well, you can just sweep that aside in a hurry. I think you'll find our lack of tolerance on this to be right on the button.

I could just play knock out, but I tend to spin things a bit.

(EDIT: Don't get me started. I'm from a state that has produced most of the US Olympic squads for the last few bonspiels.)

2. Why are there no AI's on the street? There's apparently enough AI's in town to support the fighting rink, but the only ones we've ever seen out and about are in the cast.

A quick check tells me that Northampton has a population of just under 28,500. In today's comic we see 14 people besides Clinton on one very short section of street. 14 people would make up around 1/2000th of the population of the city and therefore no where near an accurate representation of the demographics of the city.

Likewise, the AI we have seen in the comic do not constitute an accurate representation of the AI demographics in Northampton. Bubbles, Punchbot and the other AI seem to be housed in specifically designed combat chassis. Meanwhile you have the likes of Corpsewitch who seem to embody the 50s/Robots film aesthetic with the stick thin arms. We have the Pintsize style AI, the small companion-types who presumably worked in a limited area such as an apartment.

Also, just because we don't see any AI in frame, doesn't mean they aren't there. We know that a great number of AnthroPCs reside in the Northampton area as evidenced by the party from when Marten and Faye moved into their current apartment, not to mention Winslow and Momo are and were a large tablet model and chibi model respectively. One can assume from that the a sizeable proportion of the AI population could still be running around in their original chassis, weaving in and out of the legs of the people on the streets.

Wouldn't get too discouraged Clinton.  It's more bad happenstance than rejection.

or the universe giving him time to rein in the creepy. Despite what movies tell us, people do not like being stalked/followed/chased after.

Indeed. Best move for Clinton now is to throw up his hands, walk back to COD and say "Well I tried, didn't see her." He could add, "Must not have been meant to be, or she would've been here when I arrived or we would've met at the door." to silence his sister. Hey it might work.

Thoughts on today's comic:

Don't rule out anyone (there are enough mild-weather garments being worn to hide skin seams and that includes the curling team that might answer your Question 3) or anything (such as the pickup and car we see and the van that's mentioned. Clinton's hand has demonstrated autonomy. And how smart is that smartphone in panel 1?)
