Captain Apollo stands alongside Luke Skywalker as the space hero of my childhood. Richard himself was a great believer in a number of things including the fandom around the original BSG and was, from all accounts, a pleasant and friendly man. As with all people whose work defined them in the public eye, we can be sure that they will live on in all the imaginations that they touch.

Sad news.

No doubting he was a talented actor, but I always felt he was constrained by the role of Apollo.
The irony being that it took the new BSG to show his versatility, in being able to wipe away the memory of him being the quintessential 'Good Guy' by becoming a very, very successful, quintessential 'Bad Guy'

Cancer sucks.

And the irony is he was close to making a fairly good breakout from Apolo when he signed on to Axenar as Karn The Undieing
