Okay, last week left us in a place where we can legitimately ask the question 'what next?' Personally, I think that Jeph is going to tell us a bit more about Union Robotics' first days and maybe we might see how other members of the cast get involved in it.

However, there are other possibilities. The other is for him to pursue the romcom angle by following more of Clinton's romantic misadventures. There is even the possibility of something completely unexpected coming out of left field based on some things he's been saying on Twitter recently.

As always, please remember to specify in a comment if you vote 'other'!

Given the resistance, maybe it would be a romantic Wheatstone bridge.

If Sam asks about costumed crime fighting, will the Pythogorian make a cameo?

Faye, take it from me: Waiting is the worst. Bubbles has the right idea; you need to find some busy-work to do in order to keep your mind occupied and not thinking of the bills, the taxes and the impatient creditors lining up outside your door. Note: Please don't read that latter part of my previous sentence if you are of an anxious frame of mind!

Meanwhile, Bubbles just keeps on looking more and more attractive. She's definitely on a Claire Slippery Slope to Sexy program right now!

Didn't notice till today how much Faye's hair has grown out.

Yeah, it's finally getting out of the 'buzzcut' stage. I wonder where Jeph's planning to take her aesthetic next?

Plus you can't leave Elliot out of the love-whatever-shape

Don't forget that Renee is at the other end of the shape too. Boy! People are complicated!

Bubbles looks great.  Faye needs a book or to work on some art (no reason she can't have a side business as long as repair work comes first!).

Of course, they're going to have to wait until 'word of mouth' builds up... Either that or paint up a sandwich board and ask for someone (Brun?) to stand in the town square to drum up business. Of course, they must email their regulars (Punchbot, Hank the Dismemberer and the like) with their new address. "Hey guys, just to let you know if you want to see us, here's where you find us!"

Nonetheless, they're going to have to deal with a few very quiet days with only a few casual enquiries including a lot of time-wasters.

Now... what are they going to do with their time?

But can she make it floofy?

I sympathize with Faye to a point, but at least she's her own boss and can do other things while waiting for the next job.  My bosses won't let us bring books to read during the graveyard shift.

Right I suppose we will just trust a certain ex coffee shop girl whose fave pass time is belittling those she sold coffee too. Especially since how things changed after she left it seems like Faye was the one who infected the rest to be less polite to them and such.

You know, Faye, it is entirely your fault for encouraging Bubbles to feel so free to express herself around you. Can you really be surprised that she's learned how to tease, insult and torment from the best? Besides, what has she really said? Basically that she's a virgin and that you're not. You can take that as good and as bad as you like.

As for business...? Well, as I said yesterday, I do think that an investment in advertisement might be wise. After all, how many synthetics out there even know that you guys exist? You'll need to actively start spreading the word if you want more business!

I've been thinking about Pintsize's... um... 'accoutrement' and have decided that he's planning to use it as a walking stick and conversation piece. He'll only actually wear it when in polite company that he wishes to gross out.

Or... Maybe I have underestimated him again; he knew that business would be slow at first and so gave Faye and Bubbles a lucrative commission so that they wouldn't lose hope too quickly.

[EDIT]
P.S.:
I just noticed that Bubbles isn't wearing her unitard anymore. In panel 1, you can see a strip of her derma between the top and her jeans. She's wearing a tight maroon tee-shirt instead. That confirms that the unitard wasn't part of her chassis, just another bit of apparel.

I think I'm more curious as to whether Pintsize wants rivets with his veins.  I suppose they could always tell him they are genital warts which Pintsize would likely get if he has a real penis anyway.

I rather doubt that is going to happen, but with a business like this it will take a little time to get started. If anything, they should be delighted they had two paying jobs even before they opened. As it is, they have to wait until someone needs repairs done, or wants custom work and has heard about them. Fortunately they already have a tiny little customer base from the old arena staff. Especially if Punchbot gets  his robot gym idea up and running. Plus all the other robots they know, which is quite a few. And anyone they tell.  May is actually in a prime position to help them out, though they may have to reduce their rates for some charity cases. I doubt May is the only parolee from robot jail with a bum second hand chassis that needs some work done they can't really afford, and the parole office can't pay for.

Once again, we see the two sides of Pintsize. On obvious display is the little robot pervert that we all know and respect. On the other side, we see the friend who is trying to help Faye as well as cheer her up. When you compare her expression in panels 1 and 4, she is so much happier and not just because of the money either.

I've said this before but it is very easy to underestimate just how seriously Pintsize takes his Companion duties and the degree of subtlety with which he carries it out.

Wonder if Pintsize specified that it should be circumcised because that's how it looks, but then again it's made of metal so they could always weld something on.

If we can find a commission that costs $42, then we'll really be onto something.

I am disappointed that there has been no discussion of the typeface Seven chose for the 'Union Robotics' sign.
Is it a real font? I have not found one like it.
It is clear that Seven wanted to suggest strength and reliability. Stripped of ornament, it suggests lack of human foibles. But not so far as a stark brutality. There is an awkwardness about the 'R', a quirkiness about the 's'. Robots are not to be denied self expression or creativity.
A good choice. If Jeph made this on his own, I am impressed.

I thought Bubbles was the tank.

She's very self-driven.

I thought Bubbles was the tank.

Only if she keeps on track.
And has an anti-tank rifle on hand.
