Yeah, it looks like O'Malley is a 'work buddy'. One of the common misconception of these people is that they are friends but they aren't. They're asses who never get off your case but you're not allowed to hit because they're 'jolly' about it and may have some degree of seniority over you.

That aside, it is interesting that, as with Momo, we here have a synthetic with an actual sex drive, of sorts. Yes, she wants companionship but she wants this to include physical intimacy of some kind. Okay, so she is into the misuse of bread products in a big way but, given that robot sex is done by data packet transfer, any physical element to it is going to take on the form of a kink of one sort or another! That's the point here, of course. I don't think O'Malley has the need for an intimate inter-personal relationship (I imagine that's not uncommon amongst Synthetics) whilst Roko does indeed want both a companion and a lover in one package.

I'm really interested to see where Jeph is taking this.

I am intrigued and amused to see another trait that AIs (or this one, at least) have in common with organics:
Under stress, their "native" accent becomes stronger.
It could also be a simulation of 'foreign accent syndrome'.

Roko’s origins may very well be in the Boston area, given the existence of the MIT Robotics Lab and Boston Dynamics (which itself has its origins in the MIT Robotics Lab.) And like so many professionals with strong regional accents, she trained herself out of her native accent and into something more neutral.

So now I’m hearing her with Eliza Dushku’s voice.

Yeah, I noticed. It must be something - either data files or weirdly-arranged electrical charges - that cause mild intoxications in AIs.

And of course the "older"  AI who joined the Police picked the name "O'Malley"... or is that just what Roko calls him in her Bostonian fit to emphasize he's being a bit stereotypical?

Poor Pintsize, life is not porn, you don't just jump straight to the shoving things in faces bit.  But maybe that is his point and he's bravely trying to normalize it... and fortunately failing.

Taking surreal gags about robots and/or sex and treating it too seriously is basically how Questionable Content came to be in the first place. Nice to see the strip getting back to its roots.

This does make me wonder whether, now that Faye knows there's such thing as a robot dating website, she might bring it up in conversation with Bubbles (as per their recent chat about whether Bubbles is interested in dating).

I find it interesting that some AIs (Momo, perhaps Bubbles) are romantically or sexually attracted to humans, while others (Roko, the two robots at the old Fight Club, perhaps Pintsize) are attracted to other AIs. (Pintsize is difficult to classify - cf. his groping of Faye, way back when - and I have no idea where to put May.)

Personally, I think that Pintsize is hetrosexual and hetroromantic. He just finds it amusing to taunt other people about their sexual hang-ups and play the letch.

As for May? It wouldn't surprise me if she is asexual but has a recreational interest in others sexuality, viewing it as somewhat bizarre and humorous.

OK, when I did the poll for this week, it was kinda obvious to me what the "Date" in QC history was. But, I figured I needed to go down the list - and yes, I forgot Dora-Tai, I'm sorry.

May have expressed a lot of interest in human sexuality, human female bodies and human/AI sexual activities. The one time I remember she had anything to do with AI/AI sex or romance what the facesitting event with Pintsize, which left both of them bored and felt pointless to them. She seems more interested in what others do... Keeping Dale and Marigold together, asking for pictures of Faye and Bubbles and a seeming abiding interest in human porn magazines. She has also expressed an interest in 'jacking off a dude' but is frustrated because of the joints of her robot hand not having a fleshy covering. All of this further complicated by the fact that she would on the whole rather be a fighter jet...

I would say that its more a voyeuristic curiosity from May. If you think about it, the main forms of her existence have been:
A - An AI and other than holographic interpretation, we might presume that they don't have any form
and B - a broken down chassis as part of her parole.

Yes, May would have loved to have been able to upload herself into a fighter jet, but for now she's stuck in a humanoid form. And now that she's there, she's got questions, mainly what can she do in such a form. Its curiosity but no real way to explore that curiosity. She's in something that's falling apart and is most likely the most basic model, which most likely means she just does not have access to the tactile sensation that a more advanced chassis possesses. The pervy nature is likely a result of not being able to have the means of actually experiencing anything sexual.

Looking back, being a jet plane would definitely be the saner option.

Thank you for choosing her instead of one of the Wahlbergs! Way too many people think of their phony accents when they think of Boston accents.

Fittingly with your comment: Eliza is from Watertown...which just happens to be between Cambridge(MIT) and Waltham(Boston Dynamics).

I'm hearing Scribble-stache O'Malley in the voice of Yogi Bear.

Which actually took me several days to identify.  I mean, I had a very specific voice in mind that I imagined him speaking with, in its weird cadence and kind of pre-uptalk syllabic mis-emphases...  and it was days later that I realized it was this character from an old Hannah Barbarian cartoon.

And, for whatever it's worth, I hope that it turns out to be in-universe truth that his moustache is really just a sharpie scribble.  It would give him a certain "style", I think.
