I wasn't expecting to do the WCDT 2 weeks in a row, but sure why not?

I've loved Hannelore from her first appearance. Her suffering, her strength, her courage, her self-deprecating humour and the sheer determination she has had to drag herself out of what was close to total mental incapacitation is wonderful. She's a real heroine in what is otherwise mostly a story of ordinary folk.

It helps that I also think her as cute and lovable in most ways. :-)

I just hope we get to a story where everyones involved and not just this aimless wandering around that's been going on since the end of the last Hannelore story and then the marigold  and her boyfriend thing thing ....  (I'm horrible remembering names so ...)

Of course! Marigold. I forgot to include Marigold in the poll!

Fixed now.

Did I miss something? Is this a Twitter-related thing regarding the characters or is it a characters' personalities poll?

And I can't wait to see what Jeph does with that little cliffhanger in the Friday's strip- Emily's ready for more unintentional awkwardness!

*edit* so much for that, we have to wait a day or two to find out what's going on with Clinton/Emily!

On a side note...as funny as it was, I think Melon might have actually had a good reason for her stopping by now- arms that move on their own might mean that there really are robot penises that can move on their own and likely become detached!

Don't leave Roko out in the cold.
Have we really had all that many strips focused on her?

I was waffling as to whether or not include Momo and May.
And I frggin forgot Emily, too. Didn't I?

ADDENDUM : I'm thinking of scrapping the poll and starting it over.

Surprised to see so little love for Claire.

Also: diggin' the overalls, Faye.

It could be that since her she moved in with Marten she has had little character development and focus. Come to think of it, outside of her new piercing and needling her brother she hasn't had much to do with the strip in years. Clinton's been more of a central character than her, especially now that it's his third major arc since Claire's moving in with Marten...

I know it won't happen, but I'd just love a Clinton and Claire background storyline. We know next to noting about their family other than they hate Mr. Augustus and their parents divorced. It doesn't have to even address Claire's transition, I just really want to know...

It probably says a lot about what Faye considers 'appropriate behaviour' that I had to double-check the archive to make sure my memory that Faye didn't actually customise Melon's pet dildo was accurate. Given that reflex response on my part, I can't blame Bubbles for not being sure! Then again, as this is Bubbles, you can't be sure if she's only pretending to have taken Faye's words seriously.

Meanwhile, the mostly-unconscious flirting between Bubbles and Faye goes on. If you have shipping goggles on, you might even view Faye's clothing choice in this strip as being a bit of a 'come on'.

Now, is it me or is there the potential here for a spin-off arc where Punchbot's arm goes crawling through Northampton, getting into various misadventures and occasionally delivering crushing right hooks to those who deserve it? Sort of a comedy vigilante version of The Crawling Hand.

All crawling in and having cereal with Melon and Steve... (I have no idea how a disembodied arm would have cereal, but I still like the idea)
May finds Punchbot's arm and somehow convinces it to take her to get Hank the Dismemberer's autograph...

And now, inexplicably, you have a rear windscreen wiper and and screen wash jet going constantly and you can't make it stop!

That said, yeah, that outfit flatters Faye in lots of ways.

I was thinking more along the lines of the trio
Punchbot's arm
Clin-ton's hand
Melon's butt

I have no idea what to call them ... well I do but there is no WAY I am posting any of those on a forum.

Great first impression Roko's making on Elliott. Assuming it is a first impression, which, judging by his generic greeting, it is.

Very much so. I've moved the discussion of that strip to a place where it can be recovered when the next day's strip gets posted. It was too good to delete.

The idea is that it undercuts the whole idea of Patreon if anyone posts a discussion of the strip before it appears on the main site.

What's important, though, is that you're supporting the strip.

Well, if he takes it off at night (or whenever he does a reboot-&-recharge or whatever he calls it), it'd be a prosthetic.  (At least my amputee coworker took his prosthesis off when he wasn't working or when he wanted to freak someone out.)  If it's from another android it's a transplant.  If it's a custom made replacement to original specs it's a custom made replacement to original specs.  If he already had it in the garage or wherever it's a spare.

Without lips Faye's face looks very much like Hannelore, only with different hair and glasses.
I'm still not sure if I like the new look. She looks much more adorable, which is a bit out of character, IMO.

Any oppinions on that here?

Brun's internal thought processes in today's strip are, IMO, something like this:

PANEL 3: "Hmm... Curious, I seem to have done something socially inappropriate here."

PANEL 4: "From Elliott's reaction and Renee's words, it appears like making timepieces sound like sexual characteristics is taboo somehow. However, given how I misinterpreted the whole 'smelling each other' thing, I'm not that sure I can trust this impression. I must verify before I go any further."

PANEL 5: "Taboo confirmed and registered on my 'socially inappropriate' mental index-file."

BTW, it is cute and in character that Brun wouldn't use slang terms but prefers to use medically-correct terminology. She has to, of course; otherwise, people might think she's talking about male birds!

Brun's internal thought processes in today's strip are, IMO, something like this:

PANEL 3: "Hmm... Curious, I seem to have done something socially inappropriate here."

PANEL 4: "From Elliott's reaction and Renee's words, it appears like talking about parental and/or grand-parental sexual characteristics is taboo somehow. However, given how I misinterpreted the whole 'smelling each other' thing, I'm not that sure I can trust this impression. I must verify before I go any further."

PANEL 5: "Taboo confirmed and registered on my 'socially inappropriate' mental index-file."
PANEL 5: "Renee, this is for all those times you teased me. Elliott, sorry you got caught in the blast."

Gotta say...

I just don't *get* today's strip...
(Maybe it's my age!)   :)

A grandfather clock is a big clock.

A grandfather cock, therefore...

A grandfather cock, therefore...

Is evidently something that is a great threat to mental and emotional stability if thought about for too long... or at all.

therefore... why would that lead to the reactions were seeing?

Maybe it's just a gag... maybe I just don't see the humour in this one.

Oh well... :)

Yeah, that's how it seems...
Which is why I'm not getting it.

For a strip that's guns-out, respect for all both human and NON-Human...
I found it a bit... just not funny, that mentioning the fact that older men (32 at the (legal) extreme young side)... have penises!!!! results in the extreme reactions shown.

Like I said... maybe it's an age thing... :)

It works inclusively of grandfathers if the horrified reactions in the last panel are reactions to Brun continuing to talk about genitals when everyone thought the conversation had moved to the less emotionally charged topic of timepieces. "Cursed phrase!" would fit on that reading.

Making fun of our culture's bizarre twitchiness about those sweet grandparents having sexuality is another possibility.

To me, it's the combination of the two. Kind of a "tactical TMI" kind of thing.
