If one of the mods wants to put in a poll, go for it.

Otherwise - it's a hair-raising week.

I hope it's more maintainable than Claire's.

Could be made of a different type of fiber and seeing as how Momo has no facial hair there wouldn’t be anything for the solution to build off of so I can believe this.

Wow! Momo has never before been so animé! Her hair is a lot longer than it was before but Momo seems to like that; one suspects that she's always had the urge to look like a Magical Girl!

The conversation about the toxicity of the hair growth chemical is the point when we're reminded that, as well as being her girlfriend, Bubbles is Faye's thinking-brain assistance AI. Faye has as many impulse control problems as May in her own way. For example, at this point, she's being prevented from putting her head in a bucket of caustic chemicals that crystallise into hair-simulating polymer chains.

That said... Maybe the idea itself isn't unthinkable. Some mind of chemical that crystallises into Keratin? Hair extensions might be easier but, still, something interests me about a 'fast forward' hair growth system.

Finally, I know it's the arm of the engine hoist but doesn't it look like Bubbles has a bolt-action rifle slung over her back? It's just the position of it in every panel!

IIRC the polymer solution only lengthens already existing fibers, and the eyebrows are either growth-resistant for obvious reasons, or flat out incompatible to growth.

Seems like Bubbles managed to help Momo out of a hairy situation.

I like how when her hair first got singed there were haters complaining another character fell to Jeph's "short girl hair" fav look, and now she's got hair longer than she started with.

I'll cop that I was frustrated with Jeph seeming to follow a pattern he's displayed before. However now Momo has extra long hair and I think it's adorable she's delighted with her new look that she wouldn't have got without the rice incident.

One of my partners used to have hair about this length. It is not easy to maintain. I suspect it being synthetic will make that quite a bit easier.

So how long before someone posts about how disappointed they are with Jeph taking this comic in such a dedicated long-hair direction and how it's tainting his artistic vision

I may have accidentally lit the ember that started that dumpster fire and then walked away without realizing last week...

For the record, I just found it mildly irritating since variety is the spice, and also Sam looks awful. I don't like think Jeph is a bad writer or anything. It was more of a throw away comment.

I like Momo's new hair. I'd like more stories with her anyway & I'd like to see her do cool new things.

Anyway hope everyone is having a pleasant day!

Y'know, Momo's line about a newfound respect for hair just made me think of the time Delenn grew hair on Babylon 5, and she had to call Ivanova for help because she didn't know she was supposed to wash it.

Panel 4 is a huge payoff in this strip. Momo's happy little (ignorant) smile, Bubbles psyching herself up for a swing and Faye's look of horror as she tries to process what's about to happen. It all tells the joke without much in the way of exposition.

Someone over on Patreon pointed out just how amazing it is what Bubbles is about to do. To cut hair with something like a sword swing would require not only a ludicrously-sharp cutting edge, it would also require enormously high swing energy and precision following of a convex curved surface. Basically, this is less a knife cut than precision surgery done in an eye-blink!

Finally, one nice touch Jeph remembered to do: Hair is heavy in large amounts, so we loose a lot of Momo's floof because the long strands are dragging themselves out straighter.
