I think that, to a degree, how one sees their age is simply a matter of perspective.  Most of the time, I feel like I have one foot in the grave, despite only being in my '30s since I'm surrounded by university students on a constant basis.  On the other, I feel young again when I head to one of the local bars around happy hour.
I'm 50 but I feel like I'm 20.
Until I'm around actual 20-year-olds.
Then it's like "yeah... I'm 50."  :-(

Random-Diving through the archives I realized Renée's encounter with Peter might not have been the first encounter we had.

That's not our encounter tho'. It's a second hand account of an individual who might have been Peter.

More of a type than an individual, though.

Some individuals aren't much more than types.

Just finished binging the whole series.  I would have to say the most sad feels-ridden moments for me were the two breakups.  Followed closely by "the talk"

I'm sure I remember more than 2 breakups. And what do you mean by "the talk"? The talk between Hannelore and her mother?

The first "talk", where Faye revealed

.

And the breakups I meant were Marten/Dora and Faye/Angus.

Besides those two breakups, what else is there? Marten/Padma, a couple of Steve's (does Sara count? Ellen, Tortura the Russian spy, and Meera IIRC) and Nat/Amir. Faye and Sven doesn't really count, does it?

And The Talk was unambiguous to me, JJ even called it The Talk (see strips 500 to 509, conveniently titled The Talk, Part 1 through 10).

MarigoldSkye, The Talk happened about a decade and a half ago. Spoiling that Faye's dad killed himself in front of her is like spoiling "Luke, I am your father."

Yes, but noobs like yourself don't join the forum before reading the comic for some time. And if they do, it's probably for entitled screaming at people about nothing, which makes it okay for them to get... what's the right word here? spoiled? spoilered? spilled?

What is the point of this argument, exactly? I’m not bothered by the spoiler tag, and I can’t imagine why anyone else would be.

I think the point is there are things that are safe without a spoiler tag. especially for things that happened more than a decade ago.

It's fine to have it there for such things too, that's all I'm saying.

True on both counts. I wasn't trying to be snarky; just pointing out that The Talk was essentially the turning point of the comic.

The three main turning points of the comic would have to be, in order: The Talk, The Breakup (Marten and Dora), and Coming Out (Claire).

Maybe throw in Bubs-cpetion somewhere. One of the following three events may apply here: Introduction of Bubbles (as it is when Faye got a grip), Spookybot incident (breaking free from Corpse Witch), or them two actually getting together.
Although it doesn't concern Marten directly, it's one of the important arcs in my mind.

Bubbles' two main arcs (CW and Faye) would be the next of the top five.

I would argue that The Talk is what made the comic - essentially after what Jeph has said about that story line.

The Talk has been THE defining point between marten and Faye. if Marten is the closest thing we have to a protagonist, Faye is a close second. it hadn't been about him alone since then.
